new speed lube on the market

Thanks

One of the effects of using thicker silicone oil in most cases is beneficial for cubers with a slow turning style; go for smooth turning style.
Other effects when using thicker silicone is; it will fill up tiny caps when a cube is wear down, making the cube keep turning smooth even with some wear

As I do not know this lube and its specifications but this might be the effect.
I lube the cube the first time with the Rubik's wax, after this breaking in , I use silicone oil.

This is true.

Also, during experimentation with Lubix on cubes, I found that lubing the 6 points on the core drastically improved the speed at which a cube can be turned.

The reason behind this is that there is usually a metal spring, washer, and screw that all have a lot of friction at this point. By lubing this area myself and others have seen junk cubes turn into speed cubes.

This is also why a high viscosity silicone is advantageous. Once it is on the contact areas of the core, the lube has no place really to go to break down or wear out. So the speed gain from lubing the core can be noticed for a long time. I have a cube that I lubed the core on 2 years ago, that still doesn't need a 2nd application, and is still very quick and easy to turn.

No math here to back it up, but I'd estimate from my personal experiences that 80% of a cubes friction comes from the 6 points on the core. An easy experiment is to take a store bought or similar cube that turns horribly, and use Lubix on the core to see how much it improves it's turning and corner cutting. Once again, because the silicone is so thick, the speed gain you get from doing this will last a long time.

Other news,

The LubixCube website is up and running with plenty of information, FAQ, and videos.

I will be keeping the speedsolving.com discount of $4.99 going until the end of the US Nationals on the 6th - 8th.

I will be offering free lubes and logo stickers to folks at this competition, and will have Lubix for sale there as well.

So take advantage of this offer while it's here!

I still need to write my review for it, but I've been busy since I received it in the mail last Sunday. Wednesday I'll have all of the day to myself (and the following 2 weeks) so I'll try to post that. It will include videos of a AV, GuHong, and ShengShou 2x2 (and their experience with the lubix). I think ultimately the only way to thoroughly test it is to do something similar to badmephisto and get all new cubes and test their effects with the various lube tests (but I don't have that sort of money for 5 AV's, 5 GuHongs, etc).

I would like that too because I blew off nats for Toronto, and I would like to buy some of that new lube without using paypal since I have nomore money in my account. Would you offer the speedsolving discount there also?

Well, would love to!

But... I'm working on getting my Passport now. Will still be about 6 weeks before I get it.

So have to pass on that one. =/

Shame I miss the once in a life time chance to meet the most famous cuber in the world!
I could have learned some skillz.

=P

And OOH! I'm learning BLD now too. pjk is teaching me how. Talk about messed up sleep lol. So yea, did my first successful attempt at doing CE CO the other day. Meeting up with him tomorrow, and will get a few questions answered on the corners that keep messing me up.

Can't wait to do a BLD solve... That's Ninja.

i got a question.... instead of paying by paypal, can I just mail cash to u? I have absolutely no money in my paypal account so its easier for me to buy by cash.

Aw man, It really is a shame you couldn't meet the best cuber in the world (Cough, cough*).
I just bought some lube. Might review it, but that kind-of depends on how much time I have on my hands... besides, I sound dreamweird on video -_-.

I tried to learn bld, but stopped for a while. maybe I'll get back to it...
lol@ messed up sleep.

Oh, and how long do you think shipping will take to Canada?

ya faz can't come to this comp.just liek me

Should only be a few days to Canada. In the US, they're arriving in around 3 days coast to coast.

And woot! All booked up for the Nationals. Get there Thursday, and will mill about the east coast till the 11th. I will still be shipping Lubix while I am in Boston btw. So if you're not making it to the event, I'll have reserves put aside for shipping to national / international destinations.

cough, cough

@Pixel:
When do you think you'll be shipping the next batch of orders? I'm eager to try it :D Plus, my type C is in dire condition

Like I said, I'll keep shipping during the Nationals, just from Boston. I'm leaving some reserves at home, and will have my shippments in when I get back, so there should be no delay.

I'll have Lubix, as well as T-shirts for sale at the comp for $10 each, and will be lubing people's cubes for free. =]

I didn't seem to get much of a reaction out of it in my AV. How much did you put in? Mine is also brand new so it might need a good handful of solves before I notice a difference.

Edit: Apparently yours is brand new too. How much did you put in?

I put some in my brand new Alpha V.
It's great.
It's better than my A V Memory with Jigaloo.

Thank you very much for the review. I'm using an A5 as my main, and Lubix works great. I took the time to file the rough edges to help with the locking as well.

lubixcube.com btw. Still playing with the idea of using the tag line:

Turn YOUR cube into a LUBIX cube!

But in the mean time... my tag line is:

Lubix Cube - LUBE THE CORE!

I'm not sure if you lubed the 6 points on yours yet, but there is some serious speed and a nice performing cube to be had by doing so. Just like radmin did.

Also since you asked... It takes very little (1/50ml) on all core parts as well as the plastic surfaces for it to work great. So use it sparingly.

If you over apply, it will feel sluggish. That will go away with some working, but if you do over apply, the easiest way to speed it back up is to simply wipe some of the excess silicone off of a few of the plastic cubies with a paper towel.
