What is the best V perm?

I think most people use variants of that algorithm, although there are others.
I use:
R' U l' f' (x R') U R' U' (R2 x') U' R' U R U

I use this one too, with the exact same finger tricks as Dene (except the (R2 x') is more like an (l R)).

We should really start making "The Ultimate Collection" of good V perms, including the good ol' quick and easy
R' U R' U' y R' F' R2 U' R' U R' F R F.

(Wow, I'm making a lot of useless posts lately)

Heh, this is so old, but my V perm hasn't changed a bit. When I wrote that algorithm up I tried to do it without too much commentary. It's hard to describe exactly how one does the rotations and the moves at the same time. I actually find that I start more with a half R', half l'. But you can't exactly put that into notation :p.

I use this:
R' U R' d' R' F' R2 U' R' U R' F R F

but I do the d' as a U' and then a y cube rotation.

I use that one too. I can average about 2-2.5 on it. Also, it can be adjusted by adding a few moves and it becomes an F permutation.

R' U2 R' d' R' F' R2 U' R' U R' F R U' F

I use that F-perm too.

I think if I practiced it, I could get this alg sub-2, but I don't enjoy it too much because of the y and the F at the end.

I know your post is old but...

You can avoid all of that by doing d with your right ring finger, and the F moves with your indexes.

I use this:
R' U R' d' R' F' R2 U' R' U R' F R F

Is it normal to need a re-grip before the R' F' I bolded?

The (R' U R' d') I can do easily without a re-grip. And then, with a re-grip (moving my right hand one rotation -- like an R -- before re-gripping), I can do the remainder without a re-grip. But I can't find a rhythm or technique where I don't need that one re-grip.

you do (R' U R' d') without regripping? o_O I regrip after R' U R', then get the d' with my right midde finger while keeping my right thumb on the top-right corner, then I just use my thumb to do the F' later so I can do the rest without regrips

Actually, I suppose I can single-grip it if I do like so:

(R' U R' d') (Lw' U') ([Lw R] U' R' U) (R' F R F)

Basically, instead of the R' (of the red R' F' pair), I do a Lw', keeping my right hand still. Then, the R2 become a combined Lw + R. It's the same algorithm, but feels different and perhaps easier.
