Yesterday I was averaging 40's with this and now I'm averaging in the 20's and doing pretty good. I'm sorta inconsistent though. I was just wondering would it be worth to go to petrus full time now even though I have learned more than half of the oll's? I kinda like solving it this way, its more fun, so I think I might stick with it.

My inspections are kinda long sorry. I'm still getting use to the look ahead for the 2x2 and 2x2x3 block on this.

err my average sucks so i would not consider myself someone who should give advice but i think you should like learn petrus while sticking to fridrich but the sudden switch of methods sill be sorta hard to overcome. it's just an opinion but i had a similar experience with blindsolving you know...

Well I know petrus well know. My step were i fix the edges has gotten much better since i understand it better now. And my switch between methods didnt effect either of my times that much.

Yea fridrich is so plain. And like petrus is a little more unique but like Roux looks even more unique but I really dont wanna spend time learning algs. I just got an average of 12 on fridrich under 20 sooo i might stick to that haha.

lol algs with roux arnt that big of a deal im averaging ~25-26 seconds, with mostly 2 look corners, the rest of the solve there are no algs, but meh

heres what i say,

Erik J you have competition

why not give petrus a try? if it doesn't work for you then do something else.

from what I can see from the video you turn way too fast when you make the 2x2x2 and loose pieces for the 2x2x3 and you have a delay. Just turn REALLY slow until you get to step 4 (right after bad edges), then you can go nuts.

I have videos that may be helpful.

I'm terrible with blockbuilding, but your video helped me alot.
For roux, I can get the f2b done in about 15-17 seconds on average...which means the rest of my solve is like...the same amount of time. -_-"

anyway, try it out and see if you like it. I love blockbuilding now, it's quite a bit of fun. But I believe with blockbuilding, lookahead is that much more important.

my cmll + 6e4c time is a bit lower than my f2b,
f2b usually done in 9secs more or less
but my cmll time can be 4,5secs if i meet hard cases that lock me up ==...

i totally agree with u that
lookahead is that much more important ,
smooth solving the key to get fast in my opinion ..

Ok thanks for the tips guys. For the block building part how do you generally do it. I'm terrible and like insert the edges first than make a corner edge pair and insert it like in fridrich. It's sorta worked but I need to make this part of my solve faster so I think I'm gonna slow down and look ahead like you guys said. I'm going on vacation now but I will look at all your videos when I get back.

you should watch my vid, after i post this ill edit it with a vid:

but basically, i make a pair, any c/e pair, not just one with the unique sticker the D face color, then i add an edge to complete a 1x2x2, and then expand that to a 2x2x2 by adding one more edge to the right place.

my vid: (oh and sorry for the shaking....)

Roux looks even more unique but I really dont wanna spend time learning algs.

So, first off, you want fast times without working for them? Good plan. Second, a typical Roux solve uses 1 or 2 algorithms, you already know all of the 2 look algs.

lawl mini dont sound so upset.

but yea hed have to learn like *counts on his fingers* 40ish algs...

Sorry, I just wanted to make sure that he knows that he can try Roux without having to commit to it. Lately I've been kind of moody with peoples responses, sorry about that, I'll work on it.

My tip: try Roux for a little while (couple of hours/days/months) and see how you like it.

+1
personally id recommend Roux, the F2B is really easy, the LSE is amazingly fun using only <M,U>, and amazingly fast. Its a method that only uses one algorithm per solve (two unless you know C*LL), and i think it has the most room for improvement.

also i think that Roux is quite possibly the best method for FMC AND speedsolving...

although this is just my opinion, and you seem to be doing fine with petrus.

if you do decide to switch from fridrich to a block building method, go with one that you like personally. Dont not learn Roux because of algs, you can get sub-20 w/o knowing more than 2L corners.

but dont switch to roux if you like petrus better. its all up to you

Mhm, I encourage you to read what Gears posted over a couple of times, it's really up to what you feel is best, but don't shoot something down before trying it.
