Speedsolving.com really should get a favorites icon.

Interesting idea, but the text is too colorful for my taste, and I do like how the current logo emphasizes the "& Other Puzzles" by for instance having pictures of other things there too. Also, for the icon, do you intend to just use a solved 3x3?

I was just throwing the design out there. :P

What else will we be able to fit into 32x32 pixels? :P

When I go through my Firefox bookmarks, many sites have nice tiny icons next to the bookmark name. Speedsolving.com uses a YouTube icon! A year or 2 ago it had a tiny cube icon. Will the "favorites logo" fix this too? (I tried removing and adding this site to my bookmarks, but it always came back with the YouTube icon.)

I agree. I've thought about doing this for awhile, but other things always come up. Now that it has been brought up, we might as well.

I am willing to give someone a prize (a new puzzle of some sort) if they design a logo that we use. I like the cube with the SS on it, but that is really only good for an icon. We need a new banner for the top of the forum, 450x90. I can actually be up to 600x90 if that helps. Make sure it fits with the forum colors as well.

I'd also like to see variations of it, such as 468x60 and the other sizes shown here.

Lets pick something that we all like, not just me.

Nukoca: I agree with qqwref about your banner. Also, why not put an SS pattern on the cube, it is a perfect chance to.

Okay, I'll see if I can add some more puzzles to it and tone down the color a bit.

What puzzles should be in it? 3x3 obviously, but maybe a Square-1 and V-Cube?
Also, what do you think about the font?
Should I put the catchphrase "All Puzzles. All the time." in it?
What exactly are we looking for here?

That cube has the wrong color scheme

@Crides drafts for the icon; I would love to see your final cube as the icon, and perhaps incorporate it into the banner as well. The only thing I would do is up the brightness of the orange more, like the bright cubesmith orange and it would be perfect. The other colors make the SS show up perfectly though.

This one;
visualcube.php

I really really like this one =P. Just saying.

I like the text... but the puzzles just dont look right lined up side-by-side.

Same here... what would be a better alternative? I can't see how I can fit them into 90x400px without it looking cramped. Should I just chop off the extra puzzles entirely? I think that the "Other Puzzles" would be emphasized by the slogan I put into it. (All Puzzles. All the time.)

Here's another one:

Feedback?

Ew, it's a Chinaminx. Seeing a 1990s sq1 is pretty weird too, and the V-cube is a bit blurry I guess. Would it be possible for someone to take a picture of a few things (say, pyraminx, mefferts minx, v5) next to each other on a white background, so we could use that for a logo?

+1
I don't have a V or a Megaminx though, and my S-1 is really old with peeling stickers. :P I had trouble finding good pictures of these (as you noticed).

I have all those cubes, but how white does the background need to be? I have like a speckled wall, or I guess I could tape up some paper behind them...
I'm pretty bad with the whole design thing, so can I just take it with my mac Isight Camera, or do I need a high megapixel camera, or any other things I should take into consideration before posting the picture...

Thanks for offering up your puzzles and mighty picture-taking skills. :)
Try to make the background as white as possible. If you open the current logo in a new tab, you can see the the diagonal lines aren't there, whereas they are there when you view it in the page. So I will most likely remove the white background so that the pinstripes will show through.
Don't worry about resolution, but depending on how high the quality of the pictures are(I've never heard of a Mac Isight, I'm assuming its a webcam) you might want to use a higher res camera. But they don't really have to be that high resolution, because the pics will be scaled down to about 95x95 pixels anyway. :p

Yeah, just cut it out in photoshop. I assumed you would do that anyway. I might compete in this. 2 people offering cubes as prizes? :D
