Potential Speedsolving,com championship

(I said this in another thread as well)

I think it would be better if people stopped organising so many forum comps. Right now there's a ridiculous amount of comps happening. In my opinion, these forum comps should be for the most part, comps with a special format or something that makes it interesting and different from a standard comp format. This is because we already have a weekly comp in the standard format, which has much more competitors, more events and is organised much better than almost all forum comps. While I like the idea of a Speedsolving.com championships, I don't think it would end up being any different from all the other forum comps happening right now as the same people would register and the format is the same. This is also why I liked the idea of the 32-person knockout, because the format was different from all the regular comps.
we are considering to do it in april

i’d wait till june/july at least, if not later. people will have more time and be able to practice more. also the amount of forum comps is sort of overwhelming for some people, and it’s not preferable to open this website and the top 25 threads are 85-90% forum comps
just my opinion 🙂

yeah that might a good idea

Maybe a limit of 80 and 3 rounds of 3x3 and 2 rounds of the others except Fmc and the bld events and 6x6 and 7x7
Even 80 is an ambitious competitor limit, so don't be disappointed when the comp doesn't fill up even half way. The most registered comp in recent history only got around 30 people and more commonly they only got up to 20 at the most, more being around 14-18 people. I'm not trying to discourage you, but I just want to let you know what you should expect the turnout to be based on all previous forum comps.

Please slow down and focus on one of your older Forum comps, you've made so many. While I really wanted to start my Forum comp, First Place First Gone 2025, I was still in the middle of my earlier Forum comp, Speedsolving New Year 2025. So I waited to conclude Speedsolving New Year and compile all the results, and now I've begun hosting FPFG. At this point, finish your first comp, then second, etc.

First of all, not even 60 people are gonna sign up
2nd of all, if your going to make the limit so big why is it one round for all events
3rd, it’s a championship bro please at least add more rounds
Not to be rude but Your comps are pretty disorganized
I agree, and also, organizing a comp this big is veeeery hard. (trust me even 30 is insane work, reason why I had to abandon)

I'm sorry, but I have to admit, I find this comps very disorganized, and might end in a flop.

First of all, 80 people??? You should think about it. This is a forum, not real life. The limit is too much, and if you had 80 people compete, and you wake up with many notifications to organize results, that's a very difficult feat indeed. And you need LOTS of free time.

Next, you're making too many comps! If you have to track results for several comps at a time, what's the gain? All it does is it makes it harder for you, and even wastes time. So please just start one at a time.

There are also too many competitions being hosted right now in the forums. Like most of the threads is just forum competitions. Maybe wait some time, and then host one?

Sorry if this sounds rude, but I actually mean it, the state in forum comps right now is kinda a bit messy, and wouldn't be a good thing to make it worse. And I kind of have experience from hosting a competition, I thought 30 would be a great amount, but I didn't include the time and work it takes to host a competition.

And we plan for the competition to start On May 23rd at 17:00pm UK time and finish on July 4th at 19:00pm UK time
why do you already have a finishing time, people may not be able to submit within your deadlines so you need to give people some grace with how long the rounds will be
