2-7 Relay BLD: DNF (2:58:28.82, 1:45:55 memorization)

3 outer wings wrong on the 6x6x6; everything else was correct. On the 6x6x6, I memorized S instead of T for the last outer wing, so S and T were 3-cycled with my buffer piece.

The 5x5x5 scramble was this week's third BLD scramble; the 6x6x6 and 7x7x7 scrambles were this week's fifth speedsolving scrambles for each; the 4x4x4 scramble was:
U2 U2' L' Rw2 D2 U Rw' R U' F' L2 Fw' B U' Rw2 B2 Fw' Rw' F2 D' U R' F' Rw' R2 U B' U' Fw R Rw2 Fw U' B2 R2 Fw' U' R L2 Rw'
the 3x3x3 scramble was the 15th scramble in this week's multi scrambles, and the 2x2x2 scramble was:
F U F U' R' U R' F U'

The memorization was really solid; I only had one memory failure pause before the first batch of wings on the 7x7x7. I memorized this way:
memorize 7x7x7
refresh 7x7x7
memorize 6x6x6
refresh 6x6x6
refresh 7x7x7 and 6x6x6
memorize 5x5x5
refresh 5x5x5
refresh 7x7x7, 6x6x6, 5x5x5
memorize 4x4x4
memorize 3x3x3
refresh 4x4x4 and 3x3x3
refresh 7x7x7, 6x6x6, 5x5x5, 4x4x4, 3x3x3
memorize 2x2x2
GO!

looks like you sneaked some peeks from under the blindfold. Hard to see at 64x speed. Put what would the reason be for your hand to be up in the air for split second. Sounds fishy to me.

I suspect he was scratching his nose or something like that, after all, he WAS solving for over an hour.

Great job Mike... you are really pushing the boundaries for BLD!!!

When it comes to memo, what's the approximate equivalent of the 2-7 bld relay in terms of 3x3 bld solves?

(Don't answer unless you actually know what you're talking about. :))

oh, my...

that's just awesome

and he's laughing at the end! I would be soooo pissed off...haha

Anthony, for me a 4x4 is equivalent to 3 cubes
a 5x5 is about 5 cubes, if I remember correctly (just tried twice, I think)
if it grows like that, I'd say 2-7 relay is kinda like 25 3x3x3 + 2x2x2 (9+7+5+3+1)

well a 2-7 is

150+60+8
96+48+8
54+36+8
24+24+8
12+8
8

=552 pieces, and if we say a 3x3 is 20 pieces and they would have roughly the same percentage of solved pieces then this is like doing 27-28 cubes.

Thanks, I'm glad two noobs didn't answer. xD

Maybe if you're a new member you shouldn't be one to be questioning the authenticity of a clearly more senior and experienced member. If you checked his WCA profile you would see that he is one of the top big cube BLD solvers in the world.

Sorry, if that sounds really harsh. I'm not meaning to be a **** but your comment made me rage.

anyway... congrats Mike, I was blown away by the time. I thought it would take much longer. I guess you'll have to do a second take for us. :p
