120 move scramble, if I can count, with only a single move incorrect.Scramble? Check.(Brest?)
Full raw video? Check.
(Brest, if you are crazy enough to try it, you might double-check the scramble at the beginning - there's always the chance I scrambled it wrong - I didn't check it yet. But I do know that on one of my earlier attempts, I definitely scrambled it correctly, because I accidentally printed out the same scramble the next week, and I recognized it after a couple of locations as I was memorizing it and had to start over.)
Thanks for the positive comments Mike.I'm hoping this is true:
and I also think that it's a major accomplishment to have a big reconstruction done by Brest, so I'm hoping. And his format is so very good. Although I admit this would be outlandishly time consuming, and I'm not expecting anything - just hoping.Should be really easy to reconstruct because it's mostly commutators and slow TPS. Just time consuming.![]()
Aw, I missed it! Anyway, now I guess we know what scramble I really did, so it's basically just as good.120 move scramble, if I can count, with only a single move incorrect.
Wow, I did make it hard for you, didn't I? I admit, reconstruction was the last thing I was thinking about when I did it. People want to see that I'm wearing the blindfold, which makes the over-the-shoulder and closer zoom thing harder to justify; perhaps I should just find a way to use a second camera. But that might be difficult for me, since I then need 2 cameras with sufficient storage capacity for big attempts. (I'm thinking 9x9x9 or greater here...) As for the lighting - sorry; there are things I could have done to improve that, but again I wasn't thinking about reconstruction. While commutators do make a reconstruction easier, there are a few things which make this solve hard
Please don't feel like you have to do it; I think most people understand this is particularly crazy to try. I'm impressed that you even managed to follow the scramble.Mike, because it's you I will give this a try, but I'm not confident that I will be successful. Also, if it is possible, it's going to take a while to do so don't expect anything soon.
Edit: Wait, you said I did 2f2 instead of f2? I thought those two things meant the same thing in SiGN notation - f2 is just a shortcut meaning 2f2. I'm confused.
oops. You are correct, that was my transcription mistake then! Which means I didn't need to reconstruct the scramble to find the mistake... >.< lolEdit: Wait, you said I did 2f2 instead of f2? f2 is the slice, 2f2 is a double layer turn (IIRC)
The slice turn is 2F2. Uppercase moves are turns of one layer and lowercase moves are turns of multiple layers. f2 and 2f2 are indeed the same thing. If I understand SiGN correctly, the slice turn would be F2. f2 means the same as 2f2, because "if the deepest turn is the second layer, we again omit the number for convenience" - it's just a shortcut.
Oops - I meant 2F2 - I typed it wrong and somehow didn't notice it. Thanks for clarifying (and fixing it).The slice turn is 2F2. Uppercase moves are turns of one layer and lowercase moves are turns of multiple layers. f2 and 2f2 are indeed the same thing.
Actually, I scramble with white on top and green in front; blue is on the bottom (which shows Brest is right about my needing better light). Switching from normal color scheme to mine requires swapping white and green; that's how I restickered the cube (solved all the centers and the edges that I could solve, then swapped the remaining few stickers).
thats 3 sets of wings (24x3) middle 4 centres of each face (24), next square of centres has 4 left edge centres, 4 right edge centres and 4 corner centres (24x3) the outer layer of centres has 4 corners, 2 sets of 4 left centres and 2 sets of right centres (24x5) and corners (8), the standard cube has 20 pieces, in the 8x8 it adds up to 296 pieces! the equivalent to 15 standard cubes. i know some pieces are already correct but you'd have to know that they are. how is your memory so good?
