Question about Similar Threads

[byu]

Is it just me, or were Similar Threads moved to the top of the thread view page? Or has this been there for a long time, and I just haven't noticed. I know as of last week they were on the bottom of the thread...

Just wondering, why was it changed?

Or are my preferences just set wrong.

no, it's like that for everybody. as far as i know, it happened in the last two days, not sure why, maybe to make it more likely that you'll click on one of them, increased traffic, etc

It's so you can find similar information more easily (in fact, are prompted to) if a thread is redundant.

On an unrelated note, would someone please make a thread explaining how to buy the best cube? Thanks, I would appreciate it.

This seems to imply that you're putting thought or research (or both) into your post. Please don't do that, that just leads to quality posts.

I'd like to suggest that the "Similar Threads" box be modified or removed.

I've noticed, since its creation, a huge increase in year-old threads being bumped, usually by people with nothing even remotely new to say about the topic. I've clicked a few threads up there, and often gotten really really old ones, without always noticing their age. Can the box be configured so that only threads active in the past month or two months show up? Or to somehow alert people that they just clicked on a really old thread?

I had a hunch that was the reason it's been happening more. I agree.

I have removed the Similar Threads display for the time being. I have noticed people replying to old threads, and I do agree that it is caused mostly by old similar threads being shown. I will work on a mod for it and hopefully get it back up with a cutoff of say 2 months or so. I appreciate the suggestion.

I'd like to mention I appreciate all the suggestions that you take and put into action on this forum. It really helps. Thank you. =]
