I seem to be stuck at about 2:50-3:00 on my 5x5..
I do one edge at a time, and I try to put the first 4 on the same side in order to avoid a lot of cube rotations..
And my 3x3 averages are just under 30 seconds..

Help?

I timed myself on the sections;

Centers:
52.97
50.84
1:01.24
58.25
51.67

Edges:
1:24.94
1:30.80
1:21.98
1:31.24
1:28.52

3x3:
I'll just post my 3x3 average from today..

I know practice, practice, practice makes you better but I feel like I'm just not improving at all, and I do my 5x5 quite a bit, and I feel like my lookahead has improved from my 3x3 and megaminx.. But somehow my 5x5 just isn't getting any faster

i feel same: I train alot and still dont get LOTS better at 3x3x3. I mean if i can cut .5 secs on avg in week im happy. yea it can be less of course but that tells me im getting better al time

I'd expect little improvement once I got to a barrier.. but I never expected that barrier to be so high.. maybe like 2minutes or something.. but 2:50 just seems quite slow to me.. maybe I shouldn't compare to people at 1:15-2:00 averages :P

I was stuck around 2:50 for a while, and then I had a breakthrough. Now I'm stuck at 2:30. :)

I was also stuck at 3:50, and 3:30, and 3:10, ...

Keep in mind that just two years ago, 2:50 would have been considered pretty decent. And if you go even farther back, Chris Hardwick set the NAR in 2004 with a 2:53.36 average!

Is your 3x3 step really that fast on a 5x5 cube? I wonder...

Work on your edges and centers. Practice look-ahead; best way to do this (in my opinion) is to not stop turning. Eventually you'll get better at it, making fewer moves to finish centers/edges and faster turning speeds.

No, my 3x3 is slower on my bigger cubes most of the time.. like 30-33 seconds-ish ..
And I suppose look-ahead is the main thing I need.. I didn't realize 2:50 was actually considered a good time lol, I was under the impression 2:00-2:30 was the norm amongst people in the sub-30 to 25ish 3x3 range

i have the same problem. my 3x3 time has been 1min 20 sec for about 3 months, i need to learn a new method,, i'm really slow at fredrich's compared to dan brown's

You are not special! Back when i started Fridrich first time i was faaaaar too slower with fridrich than beginner's way. But in time i figured how fridrich works (BIG thanks for badmephisto (uhm... older videos)) my times was cutted in first week like 10 secs.
