Oh my...! A new record for me! 9-move solution! (To a 13-move scramble.)
The cancellation is really good with this one, and the original solution was already short (17 moves).

Thanks! And this is a quite simple method I'm using. :D Solve the corners, then do edge-patterns (I only have a handful patterns: checkerboard, H, L, twisted H, twisted L, 3-perm, H-PLL; and I think that's all). Adjust individual algorithms (mirror, inverse, etc) in a way that at the borders there will be as many cancellations as possible.

Here is another nice solution with 11-STM / 12 HTM!

How do you keep finding these solutions??

This one sucked, 6 moves for a 222 block.

How do you keep finding these solutions??

Trying a few different corner solving ways in the beginning, then solving edge patterns in a way that at the border there are cancellations.

This time I found two solutions that basically equal: 3-move corners followed by 3 L-patterns.

Not necessarily, I only spend a few minutes.

This time it's not so great, despite the corners are being already solved. :/

// R2 D2 R2 B2 D2 L2 F2 R2 U2 F2 U2 L2 // twisted H-pattern
// (L2 F2)3 // L-pattern

It took me literally less than a minute:
Most of the edges were misplaced, so I started with checkerboard. Then I noticed it's a combination of a twisted H-pattern (one of the worst edge patterns) and an L-pattern. I chose the orders in a way that there will be cancellation (E2 S2 M2 can be in any order, so M2 + R2 cancels to r2; and the L-pattern is either (F2 L2)3 or (L2 F2)3, it was an obvious choice). And that's it.

Here is an example why it is worth to try different ways to solve the corners first (in my method anyway).

This is what I found originally:

 Twizzle link
 Setup
B2 D2 F2 D2 R2 B2 L2 D2 R2 F2 U2 D2
 Moves
L2 U2 (z2) S2 D2 F2 D2 f2 L2 S2 (x2) U2 L2 B2 L2 U2 L2 B2

// original:
// L2 U2 B2 D2 // corners
// (D2 F2)3 // L-pattern
// (S2 L2)2 // H-pattern
// x2 (L2 U2 L2 B2)2 // 3-perm

My second attempt was no shorter:

 Twizzle link
 Setup
B2 D2 F2 D2 R2 B2 L2 D2 R2 F2 U2 D2
 Moves
B2 D2 R2 F2 R2 (y2) D2 L2 D2 B2 L2 B2 D2 B2 D2 B2 L2

// original:
// B2 D2 F2 R2 // corners
// (R2 F2)3 // L-pattern
// y2 [L2: L2 B2 D2 L2 D2 B2 L2 B2 D2 B2 D2 B2] // conjugated H-PLL

But then I found this insanely good solution after playing around with the corners more:

 Twizzle link
 Setup
B2 D2 F2 D2 R2 B2 L2 D2 R2 F2 U2 D2
 Moves
B2 R2 D2 R2 F2 R2 D2 F2 D2 F2

// original:
// B2 R2 D2 F2 R2 D2 // corners
// [D2: (R2 F2)3] // conjugated L-pattern
// (D2 F2)3 // L-pattern

10 move solution! 🥳
