Ok, I've been thinking about this for a while and I think that everything except for the Square 1, the GAN logo at the bottom and the Square 1 txt at the top is AI maybe....

I think it has AI generated parts in the image. AI sucks at cubes, and I don’t see how it would be any better with square 1, so I dont think that part of the image is AI-generated
I got this from the official GANCUBE account on WeChat (Chinese platform), so I doubt this is a hoax

Maybe it says 4x4 because of the number of pins? idk
Partly, but more directly, it's because Shengshou decided to call their triangular and pentagonal clocks 三阶 (three-layer) and 五阶 (five-layer), and then for some godforsaken reason, Qiyi and Moyu are following suit. By backformation, the normal clock is 四阶 (four-layer).
