We will discuss both of these processes. We will look at these points:1.The Misconceptions,2.Which one is better, and 3. Which one to use.
1. The Misconceptions. So people generally say that Yau limits the left hand movement. They think this because there is only one edge slot to use when solving the last 4 centers, but Yau actually INCREASES the left hand turns. L,L',and U' are increased throughout the solve.
2. Which one is better? This is the arguable part, but the misconception is that Redux is faster. It is actually a coin flip. It depends on which one YOU are more comfortable with. Who is better at 7x7,Max or Tymon? And now who is better at 5x5? Think about it.
3. Which one to use. This is the hard part. I am trying to be good at both, but I find that Yau is excellent at even numbered cubes(4x4,6x6)and Redux at odd numbered cubes(5x5,7x7)just keep in mind that transitioning from one process to another on one cube is a bit awkward. Learning takes time,so don't feel too bad about Yau or Redux feels "bad" when you are trying it after a while(or for the first time).
And that's it! There is already a thread about this, but I thought that it would be a bit more appropriate to post another thread for analysis rather than adding to a discussion. Please let me know if what I did was wrong,as I don't particularly care for violating forum rules. What do you think?
