I average around 1 min on 4x4 but I use redux, and Yau seems better, so what should I do to transition from one method to the other?

also, if there’s already a thread on this, I apologize.

Yau and Hoya are both just types of Reduction method, because they're still reducing the cube to the equivalent of a 3x3 and then solving it like a 3x3. They just change the order in which you solve some of the centers and edges.

Redux - solve all centers, then pair all edges, then 3x3 stage
Yau - solve 2 opposite centers, solve first 3 cross edges, solve last 4 centers, solve last cross edge, pair remaining edges, 3x3 stage
Hoya - solve 4 centers, solve all 4 cross edges, solve last 2 centers, pair remaining edges, 3x3 stage

J Perm's 4x4 tutorial teaches Yau -

Basically Yau is just Reduction but, after solving 2 centers you do 3 extra cross pieces before pairing up the other centers and you do a z rotation afterwards to finish 3-2-3 edge pairing.

Watch jperm's tutorial on yau it's really good. As far as how to make the transition easy, just practice. That will get you used to the pieces you need to look for (in First 3 edges) and also last 4 centers.
