How do 4x4 scrambles work?

I know that computers do random state for 4x4, but I don't know what method it uses to solve the cube.

Just from analising the scrambles I have the hypotesis that 4x4 random state scrambles are solved like this [check bellow], but I'm not sure. Does anyone know for sure and/or have any links relating the original method proposal?

My hypotetised method:
<U, L, F, R, B, D, Uw, Fw, Rw> (all 4x4 states)
<U, L, F, R, B, D, Uw2, Fw2, Rw2> (centers look like HTR)
<U, L, F, R, B, D> (centers solved and edges paired; reduced to 3x3 without parity)
<U, L2, F2, R2, B2, D> (just standard 3x3 solving DR)
<> (Solved)

As with the 3x3x3 solvers, the computer uses whatever solving algorithm - it can be the layer by layer method if that is what was programmed by a programmer.

One solving algorithm for a 4x4x4 is the three phase reduction to a 3x3x3, then solving it like a 3x3x3 (originally the 8 step solver by Charles Tsai): https://www.speedsolving.com/threads/kociemba-explained-verbally.44421/#post-911606

Another solving algorithm by Bruce Norskog uses 5 steps: https://www.speedsolving.com/threads/looking-for-charles-tsai-8-step-4x4x4-solver.32462/#post-648469
