Hey everyone 👋

I’ve been focused on 6×6 solving for about few months now, and recently crossed 1100 recorded solves (tracked in cstimer).
I solve on a Cubelelo non-magnetic 6×6—a simple cube, but one I’ve mastered through precision and flow rather than hardware.

Current stats

  • Best single: 3 min 05 sec
  • Mean: 4 min 22 sec
  • Total solves so far: 1100 +
  • Method: Classic reduction → 2-look CFOP

Over time I realized big cubes aren’t about rushing—they’re about flow.
I’ve trained myself to turn cleanly, keep perfect alignment, and pair edges efficiently without relying on magnets.
Now my next target is sub-3 and eventually 100 000 total solves someday 😄

I’d love to hear tips or feedback from other big-cube solvers, especially on edge-pairing flow or transition efficiency.
I’ll post updates here as I continue improving!

Thanks for reading

Session 10/05/25 – Centers Practice

Total 18 solves in CSTimer
Mean: 1:42.66
Best: 1:20.04
Focus: block building and reducing regrips

I’m working on smoother center transitions and fewer cube rotations.
My next goal is to consistently complete all centers in under 1:15

I’m currently practicing both edge pairing and centers daily, and I’ll post another update after a few more sessions.

I'd recommend getting a magnetic cube if it's an option for you, no matter how much you get used to a non-magnetic cube, a magnetic cube(even a cheaper one) will make you faster.
I get that magnets can help, but I actually enjoy mastering edge pairing and smooth turning without them - it’s a great way to build control and flow before adding magnets. i will buy one after i master sub 3. Also Appreciate the suggestion!

If you’re interested, I’ve shared my full Petrus Method guide for big cubes in my thread - would love for you to take a look. Its in general discussion forum.

Thank you, and happy cubing! 😄🧩

Question-
I’m experimenting a bit with edge pairing during reduction and wanted some insight from others.
Since I usually solve with a white cross, I’ve been trying to pair all the white edges first and make a cross before doing the remaining edges. Sometimes this gives me noticeably faster times, but other times it slows me down due to inconsistent transitions.

I’m not switching to Yau, because I prefer a continuous flow - centers first, then edges. If I switch methods, it breaks my solving rhythm. So, this approach feels like a reduction method with a touch of Yau influence.

Do you think this hybrid approach is worth refining, or should I stick to the standard reduction flow for better consistency?

Mini Tip of the Day- Let Lookahead Lead Your Speed

I want to make this journey more exciting, so from now on I’ll also be sharing small tips that have helped me improve.
And please feel free to share your own tips too — I’d love to learn from everyone as well!

Tip for today:
While practicing any stage — especially edge pairing, where most people tend to struggle — try not to rush your turns.

Your lookahead should always stay ahead of your speed - not the other way around.
If you turn too fast, your recognition drops, pauses increase, and your overall flow breaks.
Focus on controlled, deliberate turns that match your lookahead pace.
Remember, speed follows smoothness - not force.

Thank you, and happy cubing! 😄🧩

Question:

Hi everyone 👋
I need some advice for improving my centers. I usually use block building, but I still feel I’m not very efficient at it. What can I do to make my center solving faster and more consistent? Any tips or drills would be really appreciated!

New Personal Best --- 2:58.68 🎯🔥

Congratulations guys,

Finally broke the 3-minute barrier today, in solve number 1274

This time is very special for me because this was done on a non-magnetic 6×6 using reduction + 2-look CFOP.

It feels amazing to see all the practice paying off - especially all those long sessions on edge pairing and centers.
This solve felt super smooth with hardly any pauses.

Next goal: Consistent sub-3 singles and improving my overall mean.

Thank You and Happy cubing everyone! 🧩✨

Todays tip-
Lookahead is like a muscle --- it grows with awareness + repetition.
Don’t chase TPS; chase flow.
Every smooth solve today becomes a fast solve tomorrow.

Conclusion — Congratulations guys! 🎉 I’ve set a new best time in centers --- 1:09.57 --- and I’m really happy with the progress. My center solving feels much smoother and more controlled now, showing clear improvement in flow. My overall mean is slowly shaping up too, reflecting steady consistency across solves. 💪🧩

Todays tip- Learning to Trust Your Hands
After thousands of solves, your hands already know what to do --- so let them lead.
Overthinking disrupts flow; confidence restores it.
Each solve is a conversation between your mind and muscle --- when you trust your training, your cube follows effortlessly.

Quick Question:
How do you stay motivated when progress feels slow especially during long solve sessions? Also how to balance fun vs. structured practice?

Thank you, and happy cubing everyone! 😄🧩
