I still think it sucks you can't come up for it.
Same
But don't worry about me
The most likely thing at this point is:
I grind 6, pyra, and clock until February 24 (OKC Cube-Off 2024).
Then I take a loooong break (probably doing skewb, skewb, and BLD) until Heartland Champs (Sioux Falls, SD). Between the semester ending and the comp happening there is only a month. It looks like I'll be able to compete in everything except 4BLD, 5BLD, and MBLD since they're the only events with qualifications (it's top 18 out of registrants).
After that (in July) FMC Americas (the name isn't decided, but that's the working title...?) is going to be held. It's going to be a multi-location comp, so I'm going to play it by ear and also see if we can get one of the locations to be in Kearney. Then, obviously, I would compete in that and not have to pay any money for hotels. Also, it helps that the podium-getters are announced at Southern Champs since that comp doesn't have FMC
Then, after 1 more month, I'm planning on going to Southern Champs. This is 2 weeks before the fall semester begins. I'll be able to compete in every event if I go.
So that makes for an interesting summer:
OKC Cube-Off 2024 (February) 2, 3, 4, 6, OH, Clock, Pyra
Heartland Champs (June) 3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 3BLD, FMC MO3, OH, Clock, Mega, Pyra, Skewb, Squan
Big FMC Comp (July) FMC MO3
Southern Champs (August) 3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 3BLD, no fmc at all, OH, Clock, Mega, Pyra, Skewb, Squan, 4BLD, 5BLD, MBLD
With a little luck and a LOT of practice, I can get good enough results at these comps to finally become the fastest cuber in Nebraska, after 3 long and strategic years. I've also got some Summoning Salt-stlye video essays on Nebraskan cubing in the works, so it's not just me excited about the rise of several cubers in Nebraska.
