an old commercial about super strong tape.
@White KB and I have a challenge at hand.
We are racing to improve in time for Nebraska Heartland Warmup 2024, in April. We are currently racing these events:
Beginning 12/27/23:
4x4: sub-40
5x5: sub-1:20
6x6: sub-2:40

The way we determine if we have won the race is quite simple. We will provide an ao100 of solves for each event.
This thread will be updated with PBs and other benchmarks.

Yeah, and some goals we might race for as well, even if they won't necessarily be as important, are:
2x2: sub-4
3x3: sub-12
7x7: sub-4:00

Currently I'm trying to beat a 5:00 7x7 cutoff in 2 1/2 weeks, so that's what I'm doing the most on currently. However, once those skills are developed, they will be easy to transfer to 6 and 5, and maybe even 4.

I did 41 7x7 solves on the 26th and 26 on the 27th.
That's 67 solves in 2 days, which takes my ao100 from 5:40.63 to 5:28.39. I feel mildly tired, but not too bad, especially since I'm getting other (life) stuff done.

The nice part is that I improved my L2Cs, got my F2Cs better as well, and started looking for improvement in L4E, etc. AND got 5 sub-5 solves!

From here I would love to get around 75 more solves before the end of 2023, thus getting me to 50 total hours. I'm about 7 hours away, which means really I only have 72 to go. Rn my goal is to get sub-5, even if the prospect of being sub-4 is still decently far off in the distance. I feel good about making the sub-5:00 7x7 cutoff next month!

So it's a good thing we aren't racing 7x7 in this challenge
It's one of the minor things that we're racing so we are still racing it, but it's not for points or anything.
As it stands, I'm planning to start grinding 6x6 around January 6, probably just going at it hard for a week following up to KCKC 4 Big and Awkward 2024. If I end up averaging sub-4:30 on 7 by then, I'll try to aim for 2:35-ish averages on 6x6.

Long time since the last post

@White KB has taken the secondary challenge goal for 2x2, successfully getting a sub-4 average

I'm close to getting the 5x5 goal, so we'll see where it goes from here
I also got a 4:16 on 7x7 but that was ages ago at this point haha
I don't know what to grind now
