Hello everyone! I am very excited to join this community of avid cubers. I started my cubing journey 5-6 years ago, when I was in my 8th grade. I have learnt the beginners and the CFOP method of solving the cube and I currently average 19.83 but my PB is 11.15. I have a lot of variance in my times as I might get a sub-15 but the next solve I might get a 30. I hope to learn more and get better at my cubing and hopefully be sub-10 one day.

I have some questions I need to ask. I am currently using MoYu RS3 M 2020 as my main and before this I had the MofangJiaoshi MF3RS3 which had been modded by the Cubelelo store (I reside in India), to be magnetic with weak magnets.
My first question: Is it worth buying the MoYu RS3 M 2020 center pieces with the spring compression so that I can use them in my MF3RS3? I had exchanged the center pieces of my two cubes and found a significant improvement in the performance of MF3RS3. There's another catch to this question as I am quite fond of stickered cubes and my every cube has been stickered but the center pieces of the MoYu RS3 M 2020 are the stickerless ones. So considering all the above things, should I go ahead with the purchase of the center pieces?

My second question: How can I improve my turning speed and finger tricks so as to bring the times of the algorithms down? Is drilling them the only option available?

Lastly I would like to thank everyone for going through my long introduction.

Thanks and regards

1. It depends. If you watch J-Perm, he did a spring swap with the MF3RS3M and and GTS3M, and found that the GTS3M was sooo much better. If you feel like the springs of the RS3M suit the MF3RS3M, then go ahead.
2. Learn from J-Perm the most optimal way to fingertrick. Drilling works, but also be sure to be able to do good 3x3 pll recognition.
Also, 333rd post for me.

Welcome to the speedsolving forums! Consistency should come naturally but if you think you should learn it then there are tutorials all over the web.
Thank you for replying. I have been seeing tutorials for finger tricks and all but I have trouble in the application. Consistency is a big issue for me and most of my averages get ruined because of that.

Thank you for replying. I do watch J Perm. In fact I watch only him for cubing purposes. I will wait for more people to tell about the swapping because I don't know if centers of stickerless cubes suit stickered cubes.
I have been drilling for a long time now. There was a 2-3 year gap when I had to focus on studies so I guess it will take some time but till then I'm drilling.

PS- Congrats on the 333rd post!!!

Lol, thanks.
Also, for stickerless and stickered, it’s only a matter of opinion. Some people like stickered; others like stickerless.

Yup. I personally prefer stickered ones and all my cubes have been stickered till now. But what I was asking about was the mixture of both. Like I have the stickered MFJS MF3RS3 and the center piece I am talking about is stickerless. Would that conflict or would it just be the same?

Also I have a slight problem with my main, the RS3 M 2020. Many times, especially during A perms, I find myself over shooting and messing up the algorithm. Currently I have 2 additional neodymium N35 magnets added to it. Would a single or double neodymium N45 help reduce the overshooting? Plus if I change the spring of RS3 M 2020 with another cube's will it help with the stability and overshooting? The cubes whose springs I can get are: DaYan TengYun M 3X3, QiYi Valk 3 Elite M, MoYu Weilong GTS2, MFJS Meilong, QiYi Valk 3, QiYi Thunderclap v3 M, GAN 356 X IPG v5, GAN 356 X 3x3 Numerical IPG, GAN 356 RS, QiYi Warrior 3x3, Cubelelo Drift 3x3, YuXin Kylin v2 M, QiYi Thunderclapv2, GAN 356Air Master Edition, QiYi Sail, MoYu Aulong v2, YuXin Little Magic 3x3, QiYi Thunderclap 3x3.

If you want to slow down your cubes, try using more "heavier" lubes. This means the lube has a high viscosity and it will make the cube more controllable and smooth. Some options are weight 4~6 or Silk.

I did try to slow it down using a weight 4 but it leaves a residue, moreover the lube will wear out after some time so I need a more permanent solution to this. Currently I use weight 4 in the core and weight 1 in the pieces. I believe changing the magnets or the springs would be more beneficial.

Have you tried tensioning it properly?

Yes I have done the tensioning. The RS3 M is quite specific when it comes to the tuning part or maybe I am. The problem I face while tensioning and adjusting springs it that on the max tension level, the springs don't cooperate too well and I have to reduce either the tension level or the spring compression. Right now the spring compression is on the second highest level and the tensioning is done so that the cube doesn't take too much force to move but I can feel a "road bump" type feel when I am turning a single layer. I think the "road bump" is just the magnets interacting with each other and that's what I am going for.

Edit: I have changed the spring compression to maximum but still I am overshooting. The tensioning is the same as before.

Maybe some spring modding would be helpful then.
