One-Answer Lube Thread

Can lubrication be too thin ? I love my 100 cSt silicone gear oil for speed - almost water-thin but visible a bit thicker. And I use my 1000 cSt/4000cSt on edge pieces (must be weight 0.1/0.4 if 10k is weight 1). The reason I ask is because nobody recommends silicone oil with a lower viscosity than about 10k cSt (the "thin" oil in the traxxass set).

maru and DNM are pretty water like so I say probably not.

I'm thinking of buying some lube but I have no idea what to get. The cubes I'm going to be lubing are RS3M 2020, MGC 5x5 and TengYun V1 2x2 (if I get it). I have quite a fast, rough turning style for 2x2 and 3x3 but less so for 5x5 and I don't want to spend that much, maximum maybe about £7 (which is $9.71). I already have some Cubicle Weight 3 which I randomly bought a few months ago as I thought it would be good.

What do you want to do with your cube?

if you want to take full potential of your cubes, I reccomend something fast because all of those cubes are naturally fast

I'm gonna go for mystic as I think its faster than silk and its also plant based so its better for the environment. Thanks!
mystic isn't any faster than silk imo.
also, mystic is not better for the environment in any way as far as i know.

Well, mystic is made from the aloe plant, which is plant based, with less chemical manufacturing. Also, if you have ever cut open an aloe plant (we have a few plants at home), it produces a slimy, clear liquid, which is basically nature's natural lubricant.
Aloe is not the only thing in mystic. There's no way to prove whether silk or mystic is better for the environment, but why does it matter? the difference you make whether you buy mystic or silk is insignificant

edit: sorry for double post

From the cubicle:
Cubicle Labs Mystic is the world's first plant based cube lubricant.

Plant based is better for the environment as there is no chemical manufacturing.

I don't wanna seem like a bore here, but if enough people did choose plant-based lubricants then it would make a difference.

Ok this is getting off-topic now I'll stop ranting.
