So I use two look pll, learning full pll. For perms like the U perms, Z perm, and H perm I use m slice algs. But at a comp if you finish with a m slice it’s a DNF. Is using m slice algs vs normal algs more risky?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

It's true that if you finish with the M slice unfinshed it's DNF. But MU algs are not risky. Take for example Roux solvers. They always finish off their solves with MU stuff but they don't DNF that much.

Also for PLL algs it's common to have an AUF move, which means the solve will end with a U move.

As long as you have a decent enough cube it should be fine. These days, people like me are starting to use the even riskier S slice for even faster EPLLs, particularly U perm. The H perm is quite good too. Z perm is the only one that doesn’t have a particularly good RUS alg

The U, Z, H perms using M moves are well established and in my opinion not particularly risky. You get to practice them a lot, especially for 2 look PLL. If I mess up it's almost always not on the last M move but somewhere in the middle which would be a DNF anyway.
