How fast is 2x2 Ortega method

Fast. Quite fast. Very fast actually. In fact, its quite fast.


Almost everyone and their mom got sub-5 with ortega, its not that hard.

I average around 4.5 with Ortega.

I average 3.5 with Ortega, and I could be faster if I practiced more and honed my skills—for example, I could start predicting OLL more consistently, and I could probably learn a few more PBL angles.
I do know some CLL cases and I use them when the opportunity arises, though, but you can still get very fast with pure Ortega.

4.5 with Ortega, only because I did 2x2 yesterday for the first time in 2(?) months, and got a second faster.

I use full EG, and that way I am somewhat fast with ortega, too. I think sub 2.6 is possible, sub-3 for sure. Some tricks:
-find an efficient and nice to execute side
-predicting OLL, if possible cancel into it
-use CLL recognition to predict PBL in inspection
-learn multiple angles for OLL and PBL
-get all your algs sub-0.9

I might actually try an ao100 today with Ortega

My best time with Ortega is 4.98, I just turn fast, not much lookahead required. It’s that easy!

I avg 7 sec and I practiced only for like a month (only 50ish solves per day and not every day)
