I just bought a DIY set from rubiks.com and it says to glue the caps on. I want to be able to adjust them later. i thought they would just pop on and off. Would tape work holding them when im not adjusting them?b

Hmm, in another thread someone suggested that i cut out a bit of paper about the size of the cap and put it underneath to hold it in. It has worked so far, my issue was that the caps were not staying in (they would pop off during a solve..).

You could try that. Then when you need to re-adjust them it is a matter of just getting a knife and popping the cap up.

what brand of cube is yours .I read that rubiks brand aren't the best at staying in without glue. It's my second cube and 1st DIY. So i'm learning about it before it comes.

I didn't even know that that site sold DIYs! Well paper works for keeping the center caps on. I don't think you should try to glue it because you could screw up on something and ruin the cube. Tape could work, I guess. That would kind of look odd, though...

Oh well.

I got mine from cube4you.com (id recommend that site).

I used paper to keep all the caps in one one of my cubes (none of them would stay in).

Im going to get a black DIY from there.

Do the center caps pop off frequently?

My friend got a white one, and admittedly it moves incredibly well. He just got used to the fact that it was...white...so eventually he got his recognition times down. When I use his cube my times are like 5-7 seconds slower because, i feel like I can't see anything.

The recognition isn`t that much of a proplem with a white cube. The transition was -5 seconds on my times because that cube is soooo much better then the rubiks 25th cube (even though that one turned out to be very good as well).

In my opinion, cube4you sucks. It takes about 3 weeks to ship. Once I got it, it came with no instructions. It came in a plastic bag with the cubies. There were only 5 screws and 5 washers. I contacted the admin of cubeforyou about this, and he won't send me a screw and a washer. I can't use a DIY now, even when I payed about 17$ for it. (Including shipping)

I suppose you are unlucky? I live in Australia, I bought/payed on 1 friday night and received the package the following thursday. Strangely I had too many screws :-|

cube4you is a good site. If you don't like it, you can always try 9spuzzles. cube4you's service is also getting better; faster shipping and whatnot.

I seriously don't think anyone needs instructions for a DIY... It's pretty intuitive.
