One-Answer 2x2x2 Question Thread

*gets into 2x2 but notices it doesn't have its own One-Answer Question Thread* ._.

Could anyone explain how they fingertrick this alg: R2 U' B2 U2 R2 U' R2? I always get a little stuck on the B2.. Also, are there any videos showing this alg preformed? ..Also, what Sub-X should I aim for after learning Ortega?
Since there is no orientations called L, you can hold from there L but down since the are some ups moves. That’s is however for beginners and more professional people just do it no matter what the orientations are.

What's the chances of getting a LL skip?
I just got a PB with a LL skip and now I'm curious
From my intuition I would think 1 in 48.
8 OLLs * 6 PLLs = 48
8 OLLs is Sune, Antisune, Pi, U, L, T, H, and solved.
6 PLLs are Diag, Adj R, Adj F, Adj L, Adj B, and solved.
(The reason for only 42 CLL algs is because the H case is symmetrical, and when OLL is solved, only 1 alg is needed for Adjacent swap because you can do Pre-AUF)

So 2.08% chance is your answer.

1/(12*9*6/4)=1/162

I don't understand the 12, 9 and 6. I guess I'm dumb. 1/x obviously makes sense, but is the x/4 because there are four positions that a layer can be in? Why would there be three numbers? One for orientation, one for permutation, one for...?
And isn't the probablity of any position the same?

Probablity = Solved postions / All positions. Pr = 1/48 (or 4/192 if you count everything)

How is this never how you calculate probabilities?

Some cases are more common than others. A skip is generally less likely than other cases due to its symmetry.

You don't calculate the cases, because some are more common than others. You calculate it piece by piece. 12 positions for the first piece, 9 for the second piece, 6 for the 3rd piece, and 1 for the last piece. 1/4 for auf.

Ohhh yeah I should have thought about it that way. You're right.
So thinking about things that way, would the calculation for OLL skip be 1/3 for 1st piece * 1/3 for 2nd piece * 1/3 for 3rd piece * just 1 as the final corner is determined by the others = 1/27, or 3.7%?

While I was on vacation, my cat sitting neighbor decided he would go into my room and break my Guoguan Xinghen M. I was wondering if there is an easy fix, or if I need to order a replacement part, and if so, where. As you can (hopefully) see, the tip of the corner stem has three tiny protruding parts that looks like they lock into the actual corner piece. One of these three has snapped off, therefore allowing me to put the corner on but having it fly off during any mildly intense turning. It has made the cube un-useable and I am grateful for any response!

Well, You are in luck...If it works for you as it did to me. Just last week my brother dropped my Xinghen, and 2 corners broke like those in your pictures. At first I was uncertain what to do with it, but I super-glued them and they are as right as rain now (meaning working just fine with out any issues).

For gluing them, I would recommend that you add a decent amount of glue to the tip/inside the tip that is connected to the cube, as well as a little glue to the inside of the corner (inside the hole, and not on the outside) which should me obvious. After gluing it stick them together and let them sit for a bit to make sure that it is all solid before using. If for some reason the corner pops/breaks again then try it again and hopefully it works.

Please ask more questions if you have any.

Thank you so much, the Xinghen is my favorite 2x2 and I would hate to have to wait a few weeks for replacements to ship! The solution worked very well!

hello cubing community im new here and i need help. So i accidentaly corner twisted a scrambled 2x2 and i cant solve it so does anyone have any algorithm or anything so i can fix it and solve it?

Yeah! Ortega/Varasano can get you pretty far, but if you really want to be good then you should learn CLL, then EG-1, then EG-2, then TCLL and LEG-1.
