@Torch , did you start out using B-style and then switch to U-style or when you first started Feet did you use U-style?
If so, how long did it take you to get back to your previous speed?
I've always used U-style, so I don't have too much advice for switching or comparisons of the 2 styles.

I actually wrote like a whole paragraph here about how U-style lets you use 5-gen F2L, but then I remembered you use ZZ :) If you have any questions about LL though, I guess I could help!

(I know this is a double post)

Question! What do you do with your hands while you solve? I find that I have to tuck my hands under my thighs, otherwise I feel pretty unstable and end up kicking the cube around.
They kinda float around half open, keeping balance. When I notice this, I normally try and keep them clenched and pressed into the surface I'm siting on.
Also, at Michigan 2016, I saw Joshua Feran gripping the edge of his seat while doing Feet. I will probably do so also at further competitions that hold Feet.

I was recently looking at feet solving videos and having not done feet solves myself I realized that so-called slice moves i.e. m s e moves are basically impossible this made me think of what would happen if someone attempted roux on a feet solve(I know it wouldn't be faster I just think it would be funny). I find this hilarious and would like to see someone attempt this just putting the challenge out there to the community bragging rights if you succeed.

I think Michael Buckner uses roux for feet and has an official 1:03 mean
Well how does that work not doubting you just confused dont do feet solving myself so how would you do m moves with your feet? Would you just move the two opposite layers?

Ross Svensson-hornbostel uses Roux and he's done Feet officially. Not super fast though.
I think Kian got to something like a ~2:30 average using roux.

I don't use Roux, I use ZZ (which it GREAT for Feet), but I've found that if you arc your toes from the balls of your left foot, so that the balls of your Foot are on ULF, UF, and URF, and the tips of your toes are on ULB UB UFB, your left foot can turn the S-Slice.

I have never done a feet solve and never intend to but i've heard that one way to do LSE is to turn the cube on its side and hold the top layer still while pushing the m (now e) slice. apparently it's quite nice as you don;t need to rotate at all and only need to move 2 layers.

My toes are too short and fat for that. I think holding the top and turning the E slice is more promising.

I tried a big sail for feet a while back and it was terrible. I'm going to try another one, this time with 5x2mm n52 magnets. I'm kind of excited about it.

I use Roux for feet and actually I thinks its pretty good. I do the M moves as E moves and it's pretty convenient. I haven't cubed in a few months lol but I can post a video showing my technique if anyone is interested haha

Anyone want to start a feet F2L list? Though obviously it will differ a bit for turning styles.

One of my least favorite cases is 23. Some of the algs I've found for this aren't actually on algdb (yet).

  • U2 R2 U2 R' U' R U' R2 - only one on algdb, optimal HTM from right AUF but not as good in QTM
  • U F' L F' L' F' R' F' R - joint-optimal QTM and 2 gen (excl AUF)
  • U F R' F' R U R U R' - also optimal QTM, just hedge and insert
  • R U R' y' R' U R y' R U R' - 3 3 move triggers
  • R B U' B' R' F' U' F and R U R B' R' B U2 R' - maybe good for RU style? I wouldn't know :p

List of all <11 HTM solutions, sorted by QTM: with pre-AUF, without pre-AUF

Basically it seems like there are actually quite a few nice algs, but none of them are the standard one.

Not much discussion happening at the moment. I've uploaded a few feet videos to my channel recently:

36.93 single. OLL skip and J perm. Good solve for me

Nano Cube with feet. I've done this before but legoboyz3 had the fastest on cam which I wanted to fix :p

And a 45.51 Mo3:

I've improved probably nearly 10 seconds since I "returned" to feet, I always feel like I'm not improving though.

Also, one thing about solving style. What angle are your feet at when you solve? I have my heels touching or nearly touching the floor. I see a lot of people seem to have their feet more parallel to the floor though.

I have the entire outside of my foot (the pinky toe side) from pinky to heel on the ground pretty much at all times, and lift the inside (the big toe side) so I can use my big toe to turn. I find that keeping as much of my foot on the ground as possible increases stability and accuracy in turning. From looking at your videos you seem to be doing basically the same thing as me.

Speaking of stabilizing, something that I brought up earlier in this thread was what to do with hands while solving. I've found that I get a lot more stability when I actually sit on my hands and hold on to the bottom of my thighs. It might just be a placebo effect, but it feels like I'm using my hands to add a little control to my legs (kind of like if my legs were those robot claw grabber things.) I'd be interested to hear what other people have to say about that.

I've had an idea on this line that I'm unfortunately a little too fat to try at the moment, but I imagine a few of you could give it an effective shot: lay your belly on your thighs, like an extreme aero tuck in skiing, and grab your ankles or even the tops of your feet. You could then move your feet with the muscles in your arms rather than the stronger but less coordinated muscles in your legs.

Ok, alternate feet PLLs (bear in mind that these are meant to be executed with U moves):

Z: R U R' U R' U' R' U R U' R' U' R2 U R (Sometimes I execute as <F, U> instead)
Y: F2 U' F' U F U' R' F' L F' L' F' R F
F: F' U F U' F2 L' U' L U F L F' L' F2
H: R L U2 R' L' y R' L' U2 R L

Since that H perm is a symmetrical alg and H perm itself is a symmetrical case, you can cancel the last move of your OLL into H perm 100% of the time.

Example scramble: M2 U M2 U2 M2 U M2 F' U' L' U L U' L' U L F

F' L' U' L U L' U' L U//beginning of OLL

At this point you can see that you're about to get a H perm. Instead of doing the last move then PLL like this:

F R L U2 R' L' y R' L' U2 R L// finish LL in 11 moves

you can rotate and cancel like this:

y' L' U2 R L y' R L U2 R' L'// finish LL in 9 moves
I found alternative R-Perms!
Note that this is for people who don't do U-style. You should perfom the U moves as B moves and the D moves as F moves.
You can still try U-style, but it would be hard since it has D moves.

U R U L' D L U L' D' L R' U R U R' (I average about 7 seconds on this and 10 seconds on the normal PLL.)

U R' U R U R' L D' L' U L D L' U R (I average about 7-8 seconds on this and 9 seconds on the normal PLL.)
Btw Raymond I now use all of those alternate algs. They're great so thanks!
If anyone needs more alternative algs, please let me know and I'll be happy to generate them!

I'll have to try that but my Rb is R' U2 R U' F' L F R' F' L' F U' R. I think it's optimal.

You can mirror for Ra but I haven't practised it enough.

Hi! I just got my feet PB single! It was 29.65, which is my first sub 30! Can someone please help me reconstruct it? I remember a little bit about the solve but can't seem to find the reconstruction.he
-It had a niklas last layer.
-One of the F2L pairs were R2 u R2 u' R2.
-When I did the cross I think I also had some corners inserted.
