One-Answer WCA Competition and Regulations Question Thread

Registration for my first comp opens soon.

Should I register for all the events or just the ones I am good at?
How busy will I be, should I plan to be at the comp all day?

Register for events you enjoy doing and can solve in under the time limits (if any) at the comp

I stay at comps the entire duration of the competition, although some people leave during lunch and come back or leave after all their events are done

Hi just a quick question. Am i aloud to do cornertwists in a competition. example: Sune just twisting the corners to do OLL! :-)

You are only allowed to fix an accidental corner twist or piece that you put wrong after a pop or something like that and you should not do that to solve OLL. e.g. you have a corner twisted and you have all LL oriented except for the one corner, you cannot, in theory, twist it and have an OLL skip, you have to twist another so that you have a valid OLL, e.g. chameleon, and then do OLL/PLL. Or that's how I interpret the regulations anyway.

In case the corner twist in after PLL I assume you can just twist it in place and solve the puzzle but someone that already has acted as judge might now better.

Okay thx! ;-) it was just something i was thinking about one day at a comp where one of the compitiors did it when he warmed up;-) thx for the help(again)

Mafergut was basically right. In essence, if the cube was insolvable (you can tell during OLL,) you can flip the corners in a certain way not to solve the cube, but to make it solvable again.

Like most things in life, if you aren't doing something wrong. You won't get in trouble.

Now I have a question:

Is the Mark2 scrambler going to be used in WCA competitions? I noticed it had the logo on its homepage and it said "Beta" and I figured it might be a replacement for the TNoodle scrambler. Does anyone know?

Get back to me soon!

I haven't heard anything about it. Is there anything special about it that makes you come to this conclusion, other than the fact that it's in beta? That doesn't really mean anything...

Since the Mark2 scrambler has not had any updates since June 2012, I'd guess it's probably not going to replace TNoodle any time soon.

Is the QiYi stickerless thunderclap(3x3x3) legal in competions?I am new to competitions and I am just wondering?

Yes you can use whatever cube you want as long it isn't transparent or pillowed. At least I think so but I haven't compeated ehiter. But i'm sure you can use the thunderclap.

I was stalking my upcoming competition's registration list as I always do when I noticed one person (Stachu) is signed up for... nothing. You can see here for yourself: https://www.cubingusa.com/Cube4Cam/competitors.php

Does this mean when he shows up to the competition, he won't be allowed to compete in any event? What's the point of even signing up then? (This isn't a free competition after all)
