Hi guys...

I really want to switch my method because I'm am currently stuck at around 22 seconds with CFOP...and I'm kinda getting bored of it. I've considered ZZ, but EO line is crazy. I've also considered Roux, its a possibility...but I've ALWAYS wanted to learn the Salvia method after watching a sub 20 solve on it.

There are no good tutorials on youtube, and I don't understand the David J. Salvia tutorial page.

Anyone here know the Salvia method and could teach me? I'd rather a video if possible, but an explanation is good.

PS. I just need an explanation on the first to layers...I understand CLL/ELL :)

Thanks,
Mike

It doesn't seem too good, just a different way of doing F2L. I read Salvia's website and I understood it as this:

1. Solve 2 E layer edges.
2. Solve corners on D.
3. Solve other edges on E.
4. Solve edges on D (can be done with slice moves).

Thanks, I'll try it out.
I see you have a youtube account. If you have time, could you post a video about this?
It would help greatly in making sure I'm doing it right.

ah, shoot! i just left my camera with a friend so he could edit the film of our call of cthulu session... i have never seen a video tutorial, and if nobody helps you by tomorrow evening i'll be sure to whip one up for you!

if a text tutorial will do, here here: solve 2 opposite edges of a face (you could think of it like the line in zz without EO), hold that line so that it runs horizontally on the L face. Then use D, R, and U move to solve 2 corners (the actual method deosnt limit you to those moves, limiting yourself helps conceptualize it). put those with their U/D colours matching the correct center and "hide" them by putting them on the line. then do the other 2 corners needed to complete that layer (of corners) in the same way. now hold the cube so the line is in the back. place the RF corner in the UB and then do either a F M2 or a F' M to solve it (thats just an example, it doesnt have to go like that each time). put the LF corner in the same place and solve it with either U L' U' M L U L or l' U' M2 U l. then adjust the M slice so the "belt" is solved. now use M' U2 M and M' U/U' M to solve the edges on D. and thats the f2l :)

I'll try. :p

Thank you so much, I've always thought this method looked insanely cool.
I'll be checking that channel of yours :p

Thank you! Thats very nice of you. My problem is, is that when I see a bunch of text that you did, my brain shuts down. I can only learn pretty much from videos :p

Thanks again.

i understand 100%. text is not often a very good medium for explaining a totally new concept to somebody. after many nights of frustration and confusion, however, i knew the cube well enough to fly through written tutorials.

I see this thread hasn't been active for a while but I wanted to try to get people back on here because I use this method and average around 17-19 seconds and I would love to share my experiences with it.

Hello,
I am also interested in the Salvia-Method because of the first two layers and their construction. It would be interesting to know, if Sub 10 average is possible with Salvia. At the moment I learn COLL Algs to speed up my solves with Salvia. What do you think: is Sub 10 avg possible?
