[Help Thread] ZBLL Discussion and Help

My honest suggestion to you is don't learn it.

You're better off being really good with OLL and PLL then struggling with ZBLL.

Not even the best speedcubers use full (or even like 1/2 ZBLL.)

I don't get your point. The best speedcubers are learning more and more of ZBLL, but that's completely irrelevant. There was a time when all of the best speedcubers used corners first methods.

Anyway, no one learns ZBLL because they want to get faster. They learn it because they enjoy learning it, just as many people learn to solve a Rubik's cube in the first place, because they enjoy it.

My Opinion on learning ZBLL.
Learning a subset this large requires an amount of motivation that words cannot express.
Its like a marathon. not a sprint. The end goal seems so impossibly far away at times. At these times the only thing that will stop you reverting to OLL/PLL is your motivation.
ZBLL is a question of how strong your self-motivation is in my opinion.

As people have said previously, Jabari, 4Chan, Egide, CHJ, and probably more people know full ZBLL. Chris Olson knows several sets, as well as Pleskowicz, Dieckmann, Kennan, Antoine, and Rob Yau. Feliks is also learning some.
Several people on the forums are learning ZBLL.

I think an easier way of learning ZBLL is cramming them in your head as fast as you can. I think 10+algs per day(what I am attempting) is good. Learning this fast may cause you to forget old cases, but you can quickly relearn them. It's like when I was learning PLL I'd always learn the G perms and forget them the next day. but each time I relearned them it was easier. After 4 or 5 times the G perms were permanently stuck in my head.

Yes I attempted this as well. In reality it may be doable to memorise 10 cases a day, but linking which alg to which case isn't doable at this speed imo

10 per day is totally possible if you have some system in place.

So like, all my algs were arranged in a certain way, so that like, if it was the 10th alg I learned, I knew it corresponded to a certain case. I didn't have to know what case it belonged to, but I knew that it was the 10th on the sheet, and the 10th on the sheet is always a double edge swap.

Maybe that would help, but you're practically there LOL

I can learn faster depending on my motivation.
Right now I'm like half motivated. Finished L, and learning Pi now. I learned 6 algs yesterday and just had to do some refreshing on which case went to which today, but I was super lazy about learning recog yesterday though, so I expected to have to relearn some of it.

I believe a set every other day could be done tbh. Maybe I should try that sometime this week. I never ever forget the algs, only the case they go to.

This is exactly what I've been doing. When I practice I just try to do all the algs on my sheet in order without looking. I also include the AUF of the alg.
So if I'm learning a COLL set, it has 12 algs. I perform all 12 algs with their AUFs. If I start with a solved cube, after doing the 12 algs the result of the cube should always be the same. If after I do the 12 algs I get a different result than what I usually get, I know I did something wrong.
with this system, I've never had issues with mixing up different ZBLL cases. I've also never had trouble remembering the AUF.

The new recog for Pi is just hard to get used to.
what recog system do you use?
for me, I use the exact same system for Pi and H that I use for TUL sets. I place the headlights on the left and I look at FU and UFR. Then RFU and RU. Then I determine if its C/C, C/A, C/O, A/C,..etc.

I mostly use the recog systems from the YT channel ZZMethod. Mostly because I was curious if he had a better system. And for a couple U sets and Pi I think his was better.

I would like to congratulate Anthony Brooks to become one of the first 10 people to know full ZBLL! Major congrats to him.

On another topic I will stop learning ZBLL algs for a few weeks as my brain feels dead. sitting on 260 ish algs i believe.
Currently relearning the easiest subset ever, OLL lol

In the meantime I plan on burning through 2 CP subsets this weekend :p

Also gj Anthony, I didn't realise so few people knew full ZBLL. It is really only 10?

yeah I am just dead of learning algs right now.

Callum, egide, Chris,, jabari, Morley and now Anthony are all I can think of right now
