[Help Thread] ZBLL Discussion and Help

I'm in the process of learning as well. Currently I'm finishing up all the U cases, and have recently started with H. Unfortunately I don't have that much time to learn, so it's going quite slowly.

Me here again,
So I have been thinking about ZBLL vs Feliks last layer which is sub 3 usually. So how faster can LL get? Is ZBLL Worth it vs Feliks last layer? Thoughts comrades?

I think Alex can sub2 LSE which is kinda the LL for Roux :p
it is the last layer we solve. So I'm pretty sure that Feliks' LL can still get faster with ZBLL, definitely worth it if you perfect it.

Hey guys.
Ive been looking into ZBLL for a while, but my biggest fear is learning it incorrectly or making bad habits, because I want to take full advantage of ZBLL. The biggest question I have is recognition. Ive read up on recognition methods, and the one I currently understand the best is the recognize CLL and then EP from one angle. My biggest concern is the AUFs before. I would think they'd be a lot more than say, PLL, because you have to AUF to get to the angle for recognition and then AUF for the alg, if it requires it. My question is, is there any other way that can work from all angles? Ive seen 4Chan (Chris?) mention something like this, but I dont know. Should I just wait for the ZBLL class thing he's doing? I cant go to Nats but I would love to watch the video.
Thanks!

So like, in regard to AUF, I've got an answer. On my work computer, I've got a small chart of what corner orientation of corners will follow after a given LS case, and it tells me what AUF I need to incorporate whilst I solve LS.

So I automatically do the U, U', or U2 without pausing, because I already know what's going to happen with the same amount of looks as I would've done by doing the LS.

Hypothetically, it frees up my brain to do other things such as inspecting colour blocks and checking the case whilst I'm doing the LS, so it's less pause. (I'm still slow as garbage LOL)

I think that figuring out EP after the CLL like you said is an okay method. Baum-Harris style (using a reference corner and looking at the neighbouring stickers) is faster. My own method is a modified style of Baum-Harris, but I think that recognition isn't even a big deal.

I think that regardless of any recognition style, as long as you're looking at the colours, you'll notice a pattern and your brain will just decipher the cases the same way people look at PLL, and that works from all angles. This just takes a few months of practise before you'll notice it in a few cases yourself.

Hello comrades,
So ZBLL is often thought of as undoable because of muscle memory being overloaded or whatnot.
Now being a piano player I use muscle memory a ton. I find I can learn a 19 move ZBLL in ~7 minutes and be able to execute fast. The main problem for me at least is linking an algorithm to the correct case.
This is what slows me from doing 12+ algs a day. Association is hard. Thoughts comrades?

7 minutes to learn an alg is great, you're making good progress!

What helped me is having all of my cases in an array, and I'd have to figure out which alg went with which case in this array.
This array associated either unique turns, or the first few turns of the alg, with the case within it's subset.

It's not efficient for long term use, and I only used it as a crutch until it became second nature to associate.

Oh, it's form of data structure, and it's just a mental arrangement of the algs and I use it to figure out which cases the algs belong to.

There's other tricks, but they're too niche to be applied on the big scale!
Sorry if that doesn't help :(

I used mental arrays (well, dictionaries, actually) when I was learning CMLL, I found that actually hurt my recall, but I was very inefficient with them. I should try that again whatever I next learn.

I don't see the necessity of testing ZB. ZBLS is downright horrible and ZBLL has a too large set of algorithms for it to be effective during speedsolves. The best alternative is OLL+PLL or CLL+ELL.

Also, I don't understand why ZB (and VH) are methods. I mean, that's like saying I've invented my own method called "Peanutbutter" and it goes like this: cross, F2L-1 corner, CLS, corner permutation, finishing with ELL, but it basically is a CFOP variation.

ZBLS can be done 98% intuitively. And imo it's a lot better than CFOP.

No. ZBLS done intuitively is not 'a lot better than CFOP.' I'd argue the exact opposite.

Maybe for you, but just by using VH I get better times than with CFOP, and most of the ZBLS cases' intuitive solutions became really natural that if I wouldn't care about the CO it would be much faster but less efficient.
And I'm talking from experience as CFOP gives me slower times and less efficient solves compared to what I use now that includes ZB

hello old sports,
Does anyone have a decent alg for this ZBLL case? this is the first case out of 70 cases that I don't like IMG_0745.jpg plIMG_0745.jpg
PLEASE HELP ME
