which method should I use?

I'm assuming you started with LBL?

If so, use CFOP until you can get ~30. Your times will slow down initially, but eventually you will speed up. learn PLL, but not OLL. once you reach an average of somewhere between 30-35, you can begin trialing other methods. I'll put a list of good methods in spoilers:

CFOP
Roux
ZZ
Mehta
Nautilus
LMCF

CFOP. Learn intuitive F2L then go for 2 look PLL then 2 look OLL. After that do more F2L stuff then go for full PLL. After that start learning full OLL then more F2L stuff. After that start learning COLL then dabble a little bit with ELL.

Ok. CFOP It is. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, I started with LBL.

I am also looking into the differences between the easier methods and I watch many video and read a lot. However I am unable to find good information on the number of turns for these simpler methods, average, mean, minimum, normal distribution. I am interested in this for more than just speed of solving. Ease of learning and intuitive solving are also of interest to me. Can anyone point me to where I should look? Is there anything on these forums or elsewhere about number of turns for:

Basic Beginner LBL

Beginner Roux (e.g. CriticalCubing's Easy Roux)

4LLL

Interestingly, the full CFOP, Roux, ZZ, Petrus etc have very good detailed information.

(My own feeling is that both Beginner CFOP and Beginner Roux usually take around 90 to 110 turns per solve.)

That would probably because it’s commonly used, and by the time you write guides for something it would be when you are advanced enough that you have already moved in past the beginner methods.

However, I’m sure somewhere, somebody will have posted these things. Generally beginner methods will have more moves than advanced methods, because of simpler, longer ways to get to the point.

Basic beginner LBL is 100+ moves
Beginner Roux is 55-65 moves
4LLL with CFOP F2L is around 65-70, with the beginner LBL-style F2L, it's around 75-80 moves.

Thank you so much for this. Just one thing, I think I must be doing something wrong with Beginner Roux, as it takes me 72 turns at least. Just completing the 2 blocks, whether using the Beginner method as taught by Sian or CriticalCubing takes close to 40 turns. At you sure you are talking about Beginner Roux? Does a F2 or M2 count as 1 or 2 turns?

I would highly suggest you check out Roux and ZZ, as well. Even if you decide to stick with CFOP, it will give you a better understanding of the cube. Roux will teach you blockbuilding, and ZZ will teach you EO. Both are valuable concepts that can be applied in CFOP.

QTM
F2: 2 moves
M2: 4 moves

HTM
F2: 1 move
M2: 2 moves

STM
F2: 1 move
M2: 1 move

CFOP is overrated don't get me wrong but its a better way to START
I won't argue with that. I agree, somewhat.
because more advanced stuff can have you switch to methods like CFCE and ZB.

why

CFCE is awful.
While ZBLL is good (but unnecessary for most CFOP users) ZBLS is 90% garbage. Also, it's still basically CFOP except with more algs.
If you're going to switch methods, far wiser is to switch to ACTUALLY good methods like Roux and ZZ. Or if you're looking for something fun, cool and novel, methods like Nautilus are great too.
You probably are a CFOP user yourself and trying to hide it.
Yeah, no. Cheeky personal attacks aren't going to make you look good here.

I aint trying to attack you. Yall know me i praise algs more than feliks. I'm just saying I am not simping for cfop. Y'all crazy lol

Also CFCE isn't awful. Its algorithmic, less move count, less algs to learn moves: 54 to 55-60
algs: 71 to 78
