when should i learn my pll and oll?

I can get sub 40 averages ussing both two looks. I want to learn full PLLs, but I am having a very hard time memorising them. the others were easier because they came up so frequently and I could muscle memorise them. I'm BAD at memorising strings of letters and translating them into moves.

does anyone else have similar difficulties? if so what helped you memorise them?

thanks

Don't even bother trying to memorize the string of letters. Just do the algorithm over and over until it's in muscle memory. For recognition/recall practice, just do a lot of solves.

[Serious]Learn PLL first, then OLL. Learn them whenever you are starting to get comfortable with your current system. It takes a long time before you will instantly recognise and perfectly execute those new algs so starting early isn't a problem. But make sure you instantly recognise and perfectly execute with your current system first.[/Serious]

[LIES]You should join my movement and don't learn an advanced system untill you break the world record with your beginners system. After that, just mentioning that you are now ready to learn any advanced system will scare all possible competition away. This is my strategy for becoming Worlds Best Ever (tm) and so far it is progressing quite well. And with quite well I mean that the WR has only gone down a couple of seconds while my PB has gone done many more. I am bound to catch up eventually[/LIES]

Learn them as soon as possible! The sooner you finish learning the sooner you are using them and getting them into muscle memory. Sometimes you even have to learn more than 1 algorithm for different angles so start early.

I can do sub-30 but not easily :(.

I have a little bit of a rub. I'm getting in the 30s and lower 40s consistently and falling. I am planing on going to my first competition in a month. that's not enough time to learn the PLLs and refine them to get down to the times I currently get. I think I may just focus on making my cross better, making my F2Ls better, and learning the PLLs after the competition. I mean I am open to being told that I can learn them and get good at recognition in a month, I just don't think I can.

Every time you solve the cube, you practice recognition and execution of PLL and OLL cases. The more you do them, the faster you get.
Therefore, the sooner you learn them, the more times you get to practice them.

I started cubing seriuosly about a month or so ago and now I average 42 out of 100 solves but today I have c ontinously been getting sub 40 and twice sub 30 and I still Have 5 plls to learn and i Only know 2lookk oll
so for me sub 30 should be possible in february if not sooner

so learn plll when you get 45 seonds avg and oll sub 30is

One month for full, refined PLL? Its very doable, if you get enough practice. Learn all the PLLs in 2 weeks, spend the last 2 weeks working on technique.

I learn OLLs and PLLs simultaneously. I choose the ones that are more beneficial to me. There is a lot of algorithms to practice and upgrade.

You don't have to learn all of 1 before the other, but generally PLLs give more benefit since each PLL occurs more frequently than each OLL.

OLL-Learn the seven Algorithms that require you to do the cross and then the algorithm. Then start learning full OLL.
PLL-Learn the basic ones, such as corner cycles, edge cycles. Then 2 edge 2 Corner Cycle (Isn't that 4LLL/4PLL?). Then the G Perms, cause they're the devil.

its not impossible to get decent times with both 2 look OLL and PLL (signature below states as such, as such)

But yes, learn PLLs first, during two step for PLLs, are for some reason, slow your time a lot more then OLL

with 4-LLL you can get sub 35 easily.. but sub-30 is harder..

when you are sub-35 I suggest learning all the PLL-s and then when sub-25 then all OLL-s.
Really? I was easily sub 20 w/ 4LLL, I only recommend full pll when you are at least near sub 20. And probably full oll whe you are sub 15. Just my 2 cents.

First of all that post was 7 years ago...
And also I average around 13 seconds with two look OLL does that mean everyone should wait until they are sub 13 to learn full OLL?
collin burns was almost sub-10 before learning full OLL so we should wait till sub-10 before learning full OLL

I finished learning OLL when I was reaching sub20 and that gave me the boost I needed
