I think a former world class cuber who stopped cubing woukx be considered washed. There are cubers such as Dylan Wang, Yu Nakajima, Zbignew Zbrowski, and Lucas Etter (sadly).

I think washed means you still actively cube but already reached your peak and haven't gotten to that level again. Usually it's because you don't have time to learn new methods or practice as much. Typically when speedcubers metamorphose into adults, they become washed.

I think calling Lucas Etter washed is a poor use of the term, since he stopped due to juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Rheumatic disease =/= skill issue.
