Hello there.
Still trying to improve my 2-look PLL.

I know this far only 2 cases of PLL.

Aa Permutation

and

pll02.gif
Ab Permutation.

I would like to know the permutation algorithm for THIS case:

Diagonal Permutation.

Here is a screenshot of the cube in case you don't understand what the heck I'm talking about:

NOTE: I do NOT want to know the FULL PLL algorithm for this case. I'm still only using 2-look PLL. I just want to be able to orient the corner pieces diagonally in ONE nice short algorithm. I will permutate the edge pieces in their own algorithm in the next step.

Thank you for your time.

afaik there's no such permutation. Your case is one of the N's, so i think you should apply this for corners:

and then one of these for the edges:

The diagonal PLL referenced in this thread can actually be achived. I actually use on my cube solves alot. But you need to use commutators.

Here it is:

Cube to be twirled CLOCKWISE into the solved state in to upper front right corner. Do R' D R F D F' . Then bring the corner to be twirled ANTI CLOCKWISE into the upper front right corner. Do F D' F' R' D' R.

And there you have it.

Use any PLL you want that swaps diagonal corners. You won't get a better alg than that. Why? Because it would already be one of the PLLs you could choose from.

I tried this algorithm 3 times and it turned my cube into a scambled mess. I don't think I fully understand your description. Could you show me pictures or a video of how to do it?

It's a y-perm, people.

EDIT: in some cases, you need to remeber to apply the algorithm from the correct angle so that you can drop one look from your PLL. In this case, it is easily possible, but I want you to figure it out for yourself.

Diagonal Permutation.

Where did you even find that graphic? On a more related note, PLL algs can be found on the wiki, and since I presume that you want to swap corners diagonally and don't care about the edges, you can use the one called, "Y Permutation."

There are basically 2 options.
In 1-look PLL language it is a Y perm.

With 2 look it depends what you solve first - Edges or corners.

1) AUF - U' and you get an U-perm.
Keep Red in front and do R2 U R U R' U' R' U' R' U R (for example)
You are left with E-perm

2) Do the E-perm, AUF to get the corners right and U-perm is left.

Combine U and E perms is the bottom line. Use any U and any E you like.

If you don't know the E-perm, go for an A-perm and another A-perm.

It's not very fast in a long run, but at least you get things done.

Y-perm is not hard to learn either.

I think someone made this to make clear which cases CANNOT occur on the Rubik's Cube?

You just move the top layer and not the whole cube. I forgot to add this.

I re checked the method with this extra infomation, and it worked.

Wrong.

yeah i realized that after Jake Gouldon's post :fp
I just learned all plls...first post and first mistake for me lol :p

It's OK, everybody makes mistakes. It took me a while to be able to recognise and name all PLLs by memory.

I apologize for being so rude. My mistake.

You lost me.
I'm sorry - but to me nothing makes any sense of what you are saying.
Isn't there any other way you can explain to me what to do?
I am entirely clueless to your description.

This method is from a 1981 cube book.

I'll describe it again, in a little more detail. HTML is not a good way for doing this. This is why I use Gabbasoft to test algs first before using them on a real cube.

Locate corner cubie to be rotated clockwise into the solved state into the upper front right corner. Don't rotate the top layer, rotate the whole cube.
Then do R' D R F D F' . The cube will be in a utter mess now. Rotate the top layer and not the whole cube so the corner cubie to be roatated anti-clockwise to te solved state is on the upper front corner and do F D' F' R' D' R. Then re-orientate the top layer again.

Hope this helps. I'm too poor to make Youtube videos.

When you perform these algorithms does it not just change the orientation of the corners, and not the permutation...

Correct me if im wrong :)
