What was your first timed solve??

I can't remember my first timed Skewb solve, but I do remember that I learned how to solve it from the tutorial that came with my GAN Skewb and I haven't learned any more Skewb stuff since. The good thing is though that I brought my global down from something like 45 seconds to now under 15 seconds with that method.

I think it was about 6 minutes? I don't remember fully though.

The earliest times I have access to on a note on my phone Is a 2x2 average from July 11th 2014 9:15 AM:

8.69, (11.99,) 8.10, (6.39), 9.02 = 8.84 Ao5 done on a stickerless Whittwo V1

15 minuts later on a black Whittwo V1:

8.99, 8.39, 9.45, (11.77), (4.87) = 8.70 Ao5

I don't remember the exact amount now, but my first timed solve was very close to 30 minutes, back in 1981. I bought a cube, spent a week trying to figure out algorithms while keeping it solved, then finally scrambled it and solved it using those algorithms and some trial and error to find another algorithm for twisting corners after about a week. Then I rescrambled it immediately after solving it and used my watch to time my second solve. Unfortunately I don't remember what the time was, but I remember it was quite close to 30 minutes. I eventually got down to about 2 1/2 minutes later in the 80s. Then I didn't really try much again until 2006 when I got hooked again on it, and by learning CFOP online, quickly got below a minute.

My first timed sole was 1 min and 12 sec.
This was pb for some of my other classmates and that is one of the reasons that in a week i was faster than everyone.
One of my friends kept saying that he will be better than me but he eventually quit with the pathetic excuse "I just don't get the point of solving fast".
Enough about me. Tell me what was yours and if anything like that happened to you?
Hmmm. Like 3-2 minutes I think...

Very good question btw.

My first timed solve was 5 minutes. I feel like 5:19 might have been the full time, but it was so long ago that I’m only confident that it was definitely sub-6 minutes.

I had learned a solution online and was using the algorithm sheet when I got stuck. I wanted to do a solve without help so worked hard to memorize the algs and got 5 minutes on my first timed solved.

I think it was a 1:24 on cstimer on my ooooold ipad that I got just after watching jperm's "how to become a speedcuber video" (btw I was addicted to jperm content for around a week back in early-2021, but I was too lazy to get good and was watching cube stuff pretty much every day without understanding 10% of it but that wasn't the point - ig I was just addicted from a young age...)
