What is a +2 and a DNF? And how do you find the average of (X) solves?

+2 means you add 2 seconds to the time, it happens when you have a 45 degrees or more (up to 1 layer, or 2, I do not remember exactly) that you need to turn in order to solve with 0 degrees difference between layers.

DNF - Did Not Finish (Or sometimes DNS - Did Not Start), either the timer didn't start, you did a move before the timer started, Or the cube was unsolved more than a +2 when the timer stopped. (You chose to stop it and get a DNF, or you didn't see it correctly or something)

Average is usually done like this:
Take out the best result and the worst result, get the sum of the rest, and divide by the number of solves that you summed up (Or you can sum all results, including best and worst, and divide by the number or results you summed up)

+2: A penalty when the cube's layer is not twisted all the way. (45 degrees on 3x3). This adds 2 seconds to your time.
DNF: Did not finish

To calculate an average, you shouldprobably use a program or website on the computer. If you can't, take 5 or 12 times and takeot the best and worst times, then average the remaining times together.

In competition, you do an average of 5, take out the best and worst time, than add up the remaining three, than divide those by three to get your official average. But most people don't take out the best and worst when practicing and stuff like that. I suggest downloading this cube timer. http://cube.garron.us/cct/ for free. Basically you just scramble the cube according to the timer, than you press the space bar to start and stop the timer. Your times and average will automatically show up.

There is more than just the 45 degrees.

If you take between 15-17 seconds during inspection it is a +2, over 17 is a DNF
Average you take out highest and lowest, then average remaining 3 (or 10).
