What got you into cubing?

I got into cubing because of CubeRazn (do people even remember that guy). I guess spammy turning got me into cubing lol. It somehow got into my feed as most of the videos i watched were about roblox (kinda cringe) and this also was a couple days before my birthday! Sort of amazing how all these events lined up with eachother.

I used to think that people who can solve a cube are magical geniuses.

Then I met one guy who wasn't smart by any definition but could solve a cube easily.

I thought that it's probably just something you can learn, and that thinking that people are geniuses just because they can solve a cube is silly. But I still had that feeling. So decided to Google a tutorial and have learned it.

I'm not sure if it was right thing to do. I gained +1 in rationality but the world has lost a little bit of its magic.

Like 7 years ago my mom bought my brother a random Rubik's Cube from a random store, and it turns bad, but for like 5 years we kept solving 1 side and sometimes 2 sides!!
But then in the summer of 2022 I saw a short from CubeHead and made me want to solve it, I stayed 1 hour to solve it with the tutorial, and even took the cube apart because it had a twisted corner, and then I kept on having it, I even convinced my brother to solve it, and he can do multiple puzzles

I was at my friend's house and was bored because he was reading a comic or something (trust, he's actually a good friend). I saw a scrambled rubiks cube so I started playing with it and got hooked, and every time after that, when I came over, I would try to solve it. Idk how, but somehow I knew that you were supposed to solve it by layers and not by sides (I had not watched anything on yt about it because i couldnt watch yt at the time), and coincidentally I solved with white on bottom. At some point I even got to 2 layers solved and asked my friend if I could bring it home. When he said yes, I looked up an online tutorial (text, not video) and solved it the next morning. He gave it to me permanently and now he says if I ever get famous for speedcubing I have to give him a shoutout.

Guess he deserves a shoutout now you have a 0.75 official 2x2 single?

First day of secondary school we had to bring 3 items, I was pretty awkward, but there was one kid who didn't mind who I talked to a little. One of the kids brought a cube and my new said he could solve one really fast. I fell in love with it. My dad had a cube from back in his day and apparently he was able to solve it using Don Taylor's manual. I also used this manual to solve cubes at first, I should probably just have looked it up.

Seeing videos of it online and then buying a gan cube and learning to solve one (IT WAS NOT MY FIRST CUBE) my first cube was a Rubik brand but i tried to twist an edge and then it popped and i thought OH NO ITS BROKEN and threw it in the bin
I feel that :) my first cube was a dayan zenchi and it popped all over the place, i was heartbroken
