what did YOU do when approaching sub 30?

I'm pretty much near the borderline of sub-30. I'm using 3LLL and Fridrich F2L. I've learned some annoying OLL cases (dots, lightning bolts, all corners oriented, and some other ones here and there) and am looking for some new PLL's.

I believe that I'll consistently sub-30 once I've mastered look-ahead for F2L. From what I can tell, that's where I can shave off those few seconds the most easily. I'll learn algorithms when I want to be sub-25 or lower.

well wat is the difference between ur inconsistent times and your normal average?? Just practice. Try looking for the best possible solution to every f2l case. Thats where going slow and looking ahead helps. Practice your 2look OLL and 2 Look PLL. The hardest part about learning full PLL is just getting started. Once you start you wont want to stop until you see how simple they are to learn.

great way to kill bordom. i think i'll learn them by january 4th. maybe. then i'll have a month to practice. and, again, what should i do about my extremely inconsistent times?

Don't worry about the inconsistent times. For me whenever I had inconsistent times it usually meant I was about to improve, your times get inconsistent when you learn alot of new algorithms.

well for my take i am still averaging around 35 seconds... but the prime thing to work on is F2L. my f2l is very bad at 25 seconds. you need to practice look ahead. OLL wise i think you can get pass with 2 look oll , i learned all pll in 4 days ago expect for the N's and G's perms and i must say PLL really did the trick of breaking 40 fast

Well if you got a 50 seconds then your execution and/or recognition took a hit. I remember I used to get 50s when i was averaging 45 seconds, but now that in low 30s to mid 30s second averages I never see anything more than 42 ever. If you can, make a video and like that we can see where you are going wrong. It would really help

i'm sub-30. When i was approaching, i wasn't really working on anything new, just mastering f2l. I still don't know 2 plls and i use 2-look oll

If you want to get consistent times...

Be able to solve the cross blindfolded. This allows for a faster cross, and it will make your cross times a little more consistent. I explain how to practice that and how it helps in 3:14 in this video. The video itself isn't directly related to getting faster at the cross but this technique can help your cross tremendously:

F2L is probably the hardest to get consistent at, I don't have much else to say about that.

For OLL and PLL, just practice those new and old algorithms a lot. Get all of your OLL algorithms under 2 seconds (IMO shouldn't be that hard...). For PLL, get all of your algorithms under 5 seconds. Also just practice solving the last layer so your recognition can also get better.

okay, got the video :) it wasn't so bad this time (the times) but im sure i still have room for improvement.

sorry about the crappy lighting and background noise.
