what did YOU do when you were approaching sub 30? were you still learning 4LLL? or practising F2L or did you start learning your PLL's? im asking because i want to know where i am compared to other people. my personal best is actually 31 seconds, and i get 35-40 seconds other times. my cross is 5-8 seconds, my F2L is 10-15 seconds, and my LL is 10-15 seconds, approximately.

wrapping things up, i just want to know where i am compared to others (averaging 35-40)

I JUST broke 30 seconds a couple days ago, new PB is 29.23 Haven't done it again yet, but hopefully I'm on my way to being sub 30 every time. To do this, I learned all 21 PLLs and am working on OLLs, but there are a LOT of them. F2L is obviously where I'm still taking the most time, so that's my next step. It's not the pairing and placing the pieces, it's recognizing the cases, that's what takes the longest for me. Good luck to you.

I never learned full OLL, and I don't think it's necessary. I was mostly using 4LLL. (when I was around 40, I wasn't even doing fridrich F2L). Once you get to like 25, you'd might as well learn full PLL. and after that just learn a couple of OLL's at a time, but don't stress over it that much, as they don't actually help a lot.

I was using 4LLLL before breaking sub-30. Memorizing all PLLs and the 7 Corner OLLs helped me break the barrier.

yeah. but i was thinking. it's better to remember the dot line and L cases first, as they are the ones that come up the most often, right?

The dot is just as common as the cross I believe. The cross has the fewest number of algs and almost all of them are super fast. and the cross is very easy to set-up.

so maybe one OLL alg and one PLL alg per day?

Personally, wouldn't even start in on OLL until you have learned full PLL. Those are the ones that can really help. OLL's will come later and aren't even necessary. Some OLL algs are longer then it would take to just do a 2 look I think.

I did one PLL a day, sometimes, every other day, but as long as you do it over and over all day to get the muscle memory, you'll get it!
