UK Cube Association and Speedcubing Ireland competition thread.

major championships aren't allowed to be held in uk or ireland, the community isn't big enough and also something about that we're islands. I heard a delegate say that before
I don't think there is any reason it couldn't happen, it just requires a lot of work and good venue hunting, many venues in the UK are too expensive and lack availability. It's no harder to get to major UK cities than it is to get to Sweden or even Pamplona.

Doesn't the uk have the 4th biggest population in Europe?

Like Cuber314159 said, it's a venue issue.

The venue needs to:

1) Be affordable- you can't hire out Wembley for a cubing competition.
2) Be big enough not just to seat 3000 people but to have room for spectator stands, competing tables, etc.
3) Be small enough not to cost a fortune
4) Be in an accessible position close to an airport with good train/bus links and facilities

All this just for the venue, not even considering the organising of a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
