I am very slow at it..got to 2:20 fridrich and then finally messed up on Y perm because I was going so slow.

My question is, how do you OH? It feels so awkward doing turns and sometimes I will do U3 instead of doing something like U' because it's faster for my fingers..tips? Tricks?

I wanna be somewhere decent for Washington competiion..I don't want to embarrass myself :p

Rowe Hessler and Weston both have excellent tutorials on OH I think. Just practice a lot, it will take a while for your hand to get used to OH.

U with either index finger push on UBL or flick from UFL (more common)

U' with index finger flick from back left (like 2H)

R with ring/pinky finger curl on BRD

R' is difficult from the start, ring/pinky finger flick on FRD

ohh a leftie like me, if you are left-handed i suggest OHing with your right hand, and i suggest looking at this video to see how to turn, even though i dont use all of it, i use some of the turns.

I also noticed that after practicing for a while, i got this "second wind" where you get better at OH after learning how to do a certain turn quickly

Please link to tutorials you are referring to - if they even exist at all.

Please read before asking questions. The answer was only 2 posts above yours.

I just looked at Rowes tutorial and it is a *HORRIBLE* absolutely *HORRIBLE* tutorial. :fp

The only thing he explains is how to do basic U and R turns and some VERY fast incomprehensive tutorials. From a pedagogy standpoint that tutorial is downright horrid. He even apologizes for being confusing and not being able to properly explain what he is doing.
I don't know much about one-hand solving averaging barely under 2 minutes myself, but teh main problem about people who are good at cubing doesn't mean neccesarily that they are actually good at explaining what the hell they are doing - something that is by far more of a rule than an exception.

I would suggest badmephistos one-handed tutorial, even though he is probably not a good OH-cuber and has downright amaturish solvetimes he knows how to properly explain the methology and reasoning when solving one-handed in a way everyone can understand.
I would also suggest learning the Petrus method which according to my opinion is more suited for one-handed solves and it isn't that much of a big leap from Fridrich-method.

If you are lazy(like me) and don't want to re-learn a bunch of mirrored algorithms I would say left hand is best, then you can just use your regular algorithms for OLL and PLL without having to resort to mirrored 2-gen algorithms and just go for the usual U and R-algorithms.
