I'm trying FMC, and I'm trying to get guusrs's NISS method (normal-inverse-scramble-switch) working.

I scramble the cube with D L U B' U R B' D2 L2 B D' U2 B F L' B R2 F' R' F' R2 D R L2 F and perform D L' F' U F2 to make a cross on the top.

However, when I perform F2 U' F L D' (inverse of what I did to get the cross) on F' L2 R' D' R2 F R F R2 B' L F' B' U2 D B' L2 D2 B R' U' B U' L' D' (scramble inverse), I do not get the cross.

I'm probably doing something very stupid here. Who can help me out please?
Thanks in advance!

Works for me, but yes you are doing something very stupid and that is using a cross in FMC. A way better start is a 2x2x2 or 2x2x3 block.

Thanks for your answer.

I know about the cross, but I was just trying a cross as a test to see if I was doing this whole inverse thing the right way. I now have this scramble: L B2 U2 R U2 L2 D F' L' U2 L2 U' L B D U' B2 R U' B2 L2 D L F B'. I do U B R' B2 U for a 2x2x2 block in FRU. However, when I perform U' B2 R B' U' (inverse of my block) on the inverse scramble (B F' L' D' L2 B2 U R' B2 U D' B' L' U L2 U2 L F D' L2 U2 R' U2 B2 L'), I still don't get the block, which is the problem I'm trying to solve.

Doesn't work for me either, are you sure you have inverdes the scramble correctly?

Your block should be U B R' B2 U2. It should work now.

It would help if you would write the correct moves for the block: U B R' B' U2

then everything works...

edit: ninja'd

but I expect that it might not work for the OP just yet ;-)

normal:
scramble: R2 L2 U2 F L2 R2 F' R2 B2 R U' B L U L B D2 B2 L B U' L2 R' U B
block: F R D U R

inverse:
scramble: B' U' R L2 U B' L' B2 D2 B' L' U' L' B' U R' B2 R2 F R2 L2 F' U2 L2 R2
block: R' U' D' R' F'

Double checked for notation errors and everything is right. Again, no block.
There is one in DRF but the DF edge is missing.

Here's a small continuation in the normal scramble if you want :p
scramble: R2 L2 U2 F L2 R2 F' R2 B2 R U' B L U L B D2 B2 L B U' L2 R' U B
2x2x3 block: F R U B2 D R L D2 B2 (I added in a B2 to your 2x2x2 block to give a nice continuation)
F2L-1: D2 L2 D' F L' F'

Haha, that was indeed the problem.
I was performing the inverse scramble first, and then the inverse block.
Thanks everyone! :D

So now I know how to apply the move notations I found on the normal scramble, on the inverse scramble, but how do I go about going from inverse to normal?

Did normal scramble: R2 L2 U2 F L2 R2 F' R2 B2 R U' B L U L B D2 B2 L B U' L2 R' U B
Found block: F R D U R
Solved cube, then did: R' U' D' R' F'
Did inverse scramble: B' U' R L2 U B' L' B2 D2 B' L' U' L' B' U R' B2 R2 F R2 L2 F' U2 L2 R2

The block is now there.
I then found U B U' B L' B' for a 2x2x3 block.

How do I add what I just found, to the 'F R D U R' solution for the 2x2x2 I found?

Sorry for the newbie questions but it's really confusing me. :p

Whatever you do in one scramble, you the inverse as premoves for the other scramble. So in your case, do B L B' U B' U', normal scramble, F R D U R. You should now have a 2x2x3 block in the normal scramble. When you finish the rest in the normal scramble, write down your solution starting with F R D U R, then the rest of it, then put B L B' U B' U' at the end of the solution to get it to solve the actual full normal scramble

BTW you should read the FMC thread or something if you haven't already. Maybe that will help

So now I know how to apply the move notations I found on the normal scramble, on the inverse scramble, but how do I go about going from inverse to normal?
An example , how i describe the moves in NISS solves.
Start with normal scramble, i write down the first moves of the solution:
„abcde”.
then i switch to inverse scramble,
the 2. scramble: edcba + inverse scramble
i continue the solve,: „fghijk”, then i switch back to normal scramble:
the 3. scramble: kjihgf, normal scramble, abcde,
continue the solve: „lmnop”.
at the end should be order this steps:
abcde …………
abcde ………… kjihgf
abcde lmnop kjihgf.
I hope that my description is clearly. :)

I offer a lesson of the smallest cube. The heart of game cube

Some master 3x3x3 FMC isn't not very good on 2x2x2

without corner = 0 cube

This cube is the 2x2x2
