Can someone explain to me how tournaments work? Like for 3x3, do they ask you to do your 5 solves one after the other or is there a break in between? If so, how long is the break?

An average consists of 5 solves, so you will do a solve, then sit down while your cube is being scrambled. During the first round, is the longest wait, probably about 1 - 3 minutes. Once you go on to a second and final round, the wait time goes down, because only fast people are in those rounds. BTW, its a "competition", not a tournament haha.

Top people go through to the next round. Not sure how many for each though.
