Hey,
I was reading about the history of solutions on Ryan Heise's site the other day and it got me wondering about some of the fastest times achieved with methods other than Fridrich, seeing as 99% of the videos/records on the net are with that (or a variant of) method. I was thinking of these other methods, but if there's one that you use that i haven't mentioned here feel free to post it and describe briefly your method. I am mainly interested in hearing about methods not similiar to Fridrich, ie other than Fridrich, VH, ZB. Here are some I had in mind:

Petrus
Roux
Corners First (Guimond, Ortega, Pochmann..)
Edges First (Ultimate rubiks cube solution maybe?)
F2L + CLL/ELL
Doug Li's
Heise Method

Feel free to post a time or vid. I'm half way through learning PLL and avg around 35s, but I found it interesting to wonder if there are any sub-15 solvers out there that use something other than Fridrich-esque method. Cool, Thanks...

Mike

How funny, I was looking around this morning for solves using methods other than Fridrich. I saw an 11.35 Roux solve which I thought was awesome. Apparently though, he says he just built two 1x2x3 blocks then inserted the missing edges and did OLL + PLL. Sort of like doing Petrus F2L then just doing OLL + PLL.

Interesting...

Yeah i have seen some vids on youtube in the past such as:

11-13 sec Roux (one by Roux himself and another by someone else)
15ish Petrus (by Petrus himself i think)
15ish CLL/ELL
Guimonds solve from like the 80s lol, but it was in the teens

Isn't it? If you just do the block building from Petrus and not bother about any of the other steps(e.g. orienting all edges before finished F2L) it would be kind of the same in translation as doing the F2L from Roux and ignoring all the other steps and just going straight into OLL and PLL. I'm not saying the methods are the same, I'm saying the idea is the same(take another method's F2L and put it into your solve and end with OLL and PLL).

I would love to see someone do sub-15 with Heise's method but I don't think there is anyone that can do that.

Don't worry, Mr. Garron, I've been putting serious work into MGLS lately (despite study and exams :P ), and I almost have ELS sorted!! I'll help you! You're gonna have quite a bit of competition soon!
