I saw there was a 3x3 version of this thread but I didn't thing asking there was appropriate. Also I was gonna ask in the one answer thread but wanted more answers from people.

So I just began using Yau to solve the 4x4 and am significantly worse at it as suppose to straight redux (3-2-2-2...) And I couldnt find any detail on yau method.

45-1:00 for redux portion with straight redux
1:00-1:15 for yau redux portion

(on 3x3 I avg 16 so I'm not too worried about improving that portion right now)

anyway for my breakdown I believe it goes something like

~10 for two centers
~20 for three cross edges
~20 for 4 centers
~20 for rest of edges

I'm sure I need to improve on all portions. But I'd appreciate some recommendations for each portion of the solve.
Also some tips on pairing three edges would be great as I haven't found a very systematic and efficient way of doing them yet.

1st 2 centers: plan out entire first center in inspection, lookahead and predict second. This is easy to sub-5.
Cross edges: again, just lookahead.
4 centers: all I can say is practice.
Edges: SLOW DOWN. Don't pause, and of course, practice.

Mine for K4 (Main method) - I average around 1:10 although have had 2 sub minute solves :)

F2C - 0:06
Roux block - 0:18
Ring centres - 0:25
Layer - 0:30
F3L + CLL - 0:48
ELL - 1:05

for Roudux I'm around about 1:10 / 1:15

Centres - 0:20
Edges - 0:45
Roux - 1:15

and finally for 'yau' ... pretty much the same as K4 to be honest :p

First two centres - 0:06
3 Cross - 0:18
4 Centres - 0:25
Cross + Redux - 0:45
3x3 - 1:10

just did an ao12. i tend to look at the timer abit when i solve so im fairly sure these are my breakdowns. (cn yau 3-2-2-3 btw)

f2c - 4-6 seconds
3 cross edges - 7-9 seconds
centers - 7-8 seconds
last cross edge - 4-5 seconds
edge pairing - 13-14 seconds
3x3 stage - 15-16 seconds

according to this i average between 50-58 seconds which is pretty much correct.

A lot of progress has been made with Yau.... This vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO6FSBCLGkI
inspired me to bump this thread and re-start the discussion. Yoshinator's breakdown in the vid is 5/10/8/4/10/22 for sub1 (and so 10/20.2/16.1/8.1/20.3/44.4 for sub2, which I'm currently working on). What are people's current thoughts on these breakdowns? Are these reasonable or do you think some part of the solve should be slower/faster (on average)?

I did som solves now and got:
f2c: 8.91
cross: 18.14
l4c:17.03
edges:31.51
3x3:42.85
total:1:58.44

I usually avg 1:50-2:00. It seems my breakdown is pretty close to what DaveyCow suggests.

In the video he says you can look ahead like crazy in the edgepairing step, i find this is the step where i never look ahead. Maybe i should work on that?
