[Help Thread] Square-1 Discussion

Re colour scheme:
The only real standard is that according to WCA-regs you scramble with darker colour (usually red) in front.

For most mass-produced puzzles that will result in yellow-top. But it really doesn't matter.
Haven't seen you in years. How you doin?

Few random questions I have:

Is there some kind of secret benefit to having black instead of yellow?
Is it worth it to learn every CP alg? Or just the ones with no parity?
Is CSP a good idea at sub 25?
Why is "square" in the name when it's 3D?
1. Some liked it more, others said it's better contrast to justify them doing it themselfs. If you are in bad lightning, it actually gives better contrast, but you are likely to switch up Red/Orange in bad lighning, so it's whatever.
2. If you plan on learning CSP, not so much. CPP has gone out of style.
3. A better idea would be to learn all Non-Parity EP Cases, but if you are serious about Squan, go for it.
4. The first two Square-1s(white and green) came pre-scrambled. So you had to first get them back into cubeshape. And to do that, you go' Back to Square 1 '.

Whoops, meant to say EP.
Yes, as some point. But it is good to know how to do them intuitively.
And @Thom S. the squan was also called cube 21, for some reason. Maybe it was the 21st puzzle developed by the inventor...
Edit: disregard about my reason for cube-21. It was because it was the European version of the squan, and it was the "Cube for the 21 century"

When should I learn intermediate CS? I average around 30 rn
As soon as possible, it's really not that difficult at all and saves so much time (optimally I think the worst slice count is 8 or maybe 9). Try also to learn and implement some of the other 3 slicers once you're comfortable with scallop/kite (shield/square, muffin/square, good pawn/pawn, barrel/kite, and muffin/muffin)

Cube master's video on this does a perfect job of explaining it in detail and running through some examples.

This thread is here to help all of you fella's that are looking to get some tips for the Square-1, also it is here for people to ask and share algs and methods they use. If you post in this thread and aren't getting a reply within a few days then feel free to message me and I'll do my best to get you some assisstance.

I will also try to keep up to date with all the links posted in this thread and compile them in this first post for you guys. Play nice.

use yoyoleberry

Yoyleberry is a really cool method but I don't think it's viable if your goal is speed. Yoyleberry will only get you so far.
True, it isn't even classified as a speedsolving method, only for novelty.
Last year or in late 2020, can't remember, xyzzy, me and some others theorized how to make Yoyleberry more viable and how to integrate CSP into it so that method has a lot of practicers missing if we want it to get big.

agree, i will not have to learn csp. but it's good if you know a lot of algs for it. and i do

agree, i will not have to learn csp
You completely missed my point. We tested Normal CS - going to Barrel-Barrel - using the Method against Modified CSP that leads you to Barrel-Barrel directly and doing the Method Non-Parity each time and saved like 5 Slices on average.
