Skewb Sub-10

I got a skewb yesterday and learned how to solve it using Sarah Strong's beginners method. I did an average of 100 and got 12.2 and a pb of 3.998. Should I learn the intermediate variation to get sub-10?

Odd question.

I've never gotten into skewb, but looking to get one (possibly the MoYu one... Seems to have the best reviews). My question is what makes skewb special? Does it feel like a 2x2 with short quick algorithms, or is it its own beast?

The reason I ask is for the reason I haven't gotten into it. For me 2x2 is fun because of the fast solves, 3x3 is the classic, 4x4 and above are more relaxing longer solves, and shape mods are my chill-out solves.

I haven't gotten into skewb (or pyraminx) because I don't see what looks interesting about it, and I stopped Megaminx because I felt like it was a tedious 3x3... And because frustrated with the catching and difficulty of turning my SS version.

I apologize for my slight rant. Looking to start a conversation about what makes skewb different and not just say why I haven't gotten it yet.

Thank you

Skewb is nothing like 2x2, it is its own puzzle. And yes, the MoYu skew is the best

Skewb and pyraminx are very similar, and aren't really like any other event.

I believe that Skewb is so appealing because it is so easy to master. Even though it takes some time to get used to the turning, it is extremely easy to learn and progress after you get the fingertricks down. After all, you really only have to memorize a few short algorithms to get fast. Also, the time barriers are less defined, so you most likely won't really have a feeling of "hitting a wall" until you get sub-10 seconds.

But that's just my opinion. Others might feel differently.

"Back in my day..."

Skewb is a unique puzzle. Its fingertricks are unlike any other puzzle, and it is relatively easy to get fast, though getting sub-4 requires a fair amount of dedication. In addition, IMO Sarah's advanced is not really as daunting as it seems, since it is vaguely similar (but with a lot more cases) to learning F2L.

I find the tutorial by Kennan (His S. Advanced one) a tad confusing. Is there any other options?

Thanks.

What I did was write down all the recognition steps on a piece of paper (so that I didn't have to keep referring), then I did 500+ untimed solves to drill the recognition.

Thank you. Just ordered a skewb. :)
