Should I switch methods?

:D :D :D :D
which method can be faster ? Roux or CFOP? roux has a lower movecount, why isn't everybody learning roux?

Fridrich requires less thought, so it's easier to get to a reasonable speed with it, so it's more popular.

I think the consensus right now (among fast people) is that Roux and CFOP can be about equally fast, and you should stick with the one you like more.

cfop takes least effort to get fast with. number two is roux. so if you dont like to spend time practising u should choose cfop

Finally people are saying Roux is fast . But still, why not other methods with reasonable movecount? What is wrong with considering them? Does it really HAVE to get to the point where a new person has gotten fast with said uncommon method in order to make it considerable?

OP: Try anything that has a reasonable movecount and practicality. If you love it it'll get you further than simply forcing yourself to do it because everyone is saying it is the fastest.

Even I have recently realised that there is much more to the 3x3 event than speed. Not even talking about fewest moves, OH, blindfolded. Speedsolving is actually very wide, and there's a lot of new things to try and discover... Thankfully I picked a method at the start which I was passionate about so although all I've thought of up to now was speed, I am still content at what I've got and the improvements I've made to the method...

I see lots of people coming up with new methods where they just have put a few seconds of thought into it and posted it in hope that some fast people would pick it up and use it. If you want to make a method make it your own, develop algs yourself, make it personally suited to your style THEN submit it to the public to share as, no, not a "what do you think" topic but a new addition to all our cubing knowledge.

On the flip side people who shoot down instantly methods unconstructively are hurtful too though, and although I am one of those who likes to shoot down methods at least I give reasons.

I guess to this topic what I am trying to say is, instead of asking "which is fastest" it is "which is best suited for me, and if none are, how can I improve said method". Or how about trying them yourself and deciding, unless the community's decision for you personally is better than your own personal decision.

You're the next Feliks, so why don't you just learn Fridrich and turn at 10tps like he does?

10 tps is crazy. I can do about 2-3. 5-6 during an algorithm. I know fridrich with 2 look OLL. My pll's take about 3-6 seconds. Do you have any tips as far as that? I need to work on look ahead. If I had better look ahead I could be a lot faster.

Yeah, PLL's should take no more than 3 seconds. It's not really hard to get their times down, just watch other peoples videos for fingertrick tips, and drill PLL time attacks when your hands are free.

Unless I'm misinterpreting you, you are doing Roux/ZZ wrong. They are similar to Petrus in that they both use blockbuilding - if you are doing the first steps the same way you'd do CFOP, it negates the efficiency benefits you gain from using these methods.

Good luck in your search; just remember that one method won't necessarily make it easier for you to get down to the sub-10 second range. It all comes down to practice.

I know. I mostly use f2l techniques for zz. Roux I use decent but still pretty blockbuilding. Do you have any blockbuilding tips?
