It says on the wiki that shock oil is a good lube? What's your opinion on this? Does it work as good as silicon spray? Does it melt plastic like vaseline? Etc

why do you have a question mark? that is a statement.

Its good
Does it work as good as silicon spray?
depends, it makes the cube smoother, where silicon spray makes it faster
Does it melt plastic like vaseline?
vaseline doesnt melt plastic. but it does no harm to the cube

lightweight shock oil is pretty darn good... only thing is it holds onto dirt and grime and can become thick and gummy. all you have to do is clean it and relube it every so once in a while. the high viscosity differential oil is much like lubix. it is only good in very small quantities. the silicone sprays are good for making the breaking in process a little easier. especially for bigger cubes. using shock oil on a straight out of the box vcube does little to nothing more than the lube they supply. once it is broken in, the lube works well though. lightweight shock oils makes cubes a little 'quieter' as well, depending on how much you use.

I once saw monkeydude1313's video on shock oil and he said it is very good. He used it on a 2x2 and a 6x6 (if i remember correctly) and said it was very good! Rowe Hessler also uses shock oil.
