Also action shot from my previous 2 mile race.

Ran the school "mile" today (it's just a 1600 on the track) I ran 5:33. I'm in 8th grade and next year I will be a freshman in high school. I'm not sure if this is a huge stretch but I wanna try to break 5 minutes as a freshman. I'm already half way there with a 2:29 800. I think with enough training in the text year it is doable. Anyway I have my final track meet of the year later today and and hoping to break 5:05 for the 1500.

It’s doable at your pace. A guy from grand view has a 4:50 as a freshman, and last year a guy from ellensburg managed to get a 4:39

And just like that my track season is over and my final meet/race as a middle schooler complete. I finished of the the season with 2nd in 1500 (5:13) and winning 800 (2:31). This year was an amazing year of track and I had a lot of fun!
Here’s a comparison of my PRs in 7th grade compared to now in 8th grade:
1500: 5:42 - > 5:09.3
800: 2:48 -> 2:29.6
Major progress was made!

This school year (2024-25) I’ll be finishing up my final season of cross and track, and you’ll be just getting started.

So I just finished up my 2024 track season! Here are my times from this year compared to last year:
2024:
400: 57.22
800: 2:08.33
1600: 4:57.97
3200: 11:21.09
300m hurdles: 47 flat
4x400 relay: 3:45.13

2023:
400: 57.69 (last year - this year = .47 seconds)
800: 2:14.39 (6.06 difference)
1600: 5:08.9h (11 second difference)

Ran almost 300 miles this past summer. First meet today and my first meet as a HS freshman. It was a 2 mile race and I ran 11:53. The mile splits were 5:53 and 6:00. My previous 2 mile PR was 13:03.

Can @abunickabhi make this thread off-topic?
My 2 mile was 13:00 as a freshman thats insane

Also first meet of the XC season today and of course its got to rain

I had my first XC of the year last weekend. It was supposed to be a 3k race, but I am pretty sure it was a bit shorter because I got a 9:53 (last year my 3k PR was 12:48) and my friend's watch measured the course at around 1.7 miles. Still, I am super pleased to open my second XC season with a win for my division and pretty good pacing. I also just had a 5k today and even though the course was super hilly (I was dying around 2 miles) I was able to just get a sub 20. Anyway, I've had to go to XC practice 3x a week for the past month so I haven't been cubing much. All of my state records are getting broken by my friends 🥲.

Second meet today. The summer training is truly starting to show. 68 people were racing in my race today and I came 13(and 3rd in my team). My 5k time was 18:59 hardly breaking 19 minutes. That’s solid 6:07 mile pace which I’m super proud of.
To quote my mom, “That’s really dang good for a freshman”.
