[Help Thread] Rubik's Magic and Master Magic Discussion

need help fixing my rubiks magic.

Ok I was in the middle of solving my rubiks magic and i did the twisting flip thing but i messed up in the middle of it... I tried to get it back but it wouldn't even get me to the 2x4x1 rectangle. I messed around with it and I am at this L shape (basically shaped like a L, 1x3x2 going down and 2x1x2 going across). Please help me if you can and tell me how I can fix this

The image doesn't show because the link is to your desktop, not the internet. I have no idea how to specifically fix this, I just play around with my for a while (being careful not to break it) and eventually it goes back to normal :) If you keep playing with it, I'm sure you can find a way to fix it!

ok thanks i played around with mine and it actually ended up fixed :) I have no idea what i did but i dont really care as long as i fixed it

Yeah, I get so annoyed when I accidentally mess up (or someone messes around with) my Magic and end up turning it into bizarre shapes. I get so frustrated when trying to twist them back into a rectangle. It seems that the only solution for most people would be playing around with it until it somehow fixes itself.

http://www.geocities.com/jaapsch/puzzles/magic.htm is the best source for solving a magic from a scrambled state. I have some add-on information that explains how I see the Magic:

If you consider the 2x4 flat shape there are only 8 situations that are in a loop of row swapping transforms and rectangle transforms like this:
A (solved)
A' (solved upside down)
B (vertical rolling waves)
B' (vertical crashing waves)
C (horizontal quarters)
C' (horizontal halves)
D (vertical halves)
D' (vertical wholes)
A again

All 8 situations can be shifted into 4 positions making for a total of 32 unique 4x2 patterns

From C and and D' you can easily go to the "solved on back state" with 1 serie of flips. That also means that you can go from C to D' with 2 series of flips. This is actually true for all 8 situations, with 2 series of flips you can go 3 situations up/down the loop like this:
A B'
C D'
A' D
B C'

Help on rubik' magic

How do you fix the strings for Rubik magic? Not like fixing the rubik magic.
You know when you restring the rubik magic. The string form like a circle(look like a rubberband, but made with fishing line), which is how the magic is made.

I need to know how to make rubik magic strings for rubik magic. If you can help me.
I already got fishing line. So I need the actual length of how the string look like(because I don't what to cut my magic strings to measure it ). And I need to know what knot to make on the string so it stay and doesn't pull out.

Please help, or tell me the website that sell rubik magic stickers

Scrambled Master Magic

So after cubing at my girlfriends place her parents suddenly remembered they once bought a Rubik's master magic in 1987. After some searching through stuff on the attic we found it. :p

Unfortunately it was quite scrambled. None of the rings were properly connected. After a lot of moves and moves I didn't get anywhere and started searching online. There is actually not that much to find on the master magic, just the regular magic. I tried applying tricks that should work on the normal magic when it is in 2 x 6 tiles without success. Right now I can't even get it back to 2 x 6. Searching on the forum or the wiki didn't help either.

So I'm wondering if anyone can help me get this thing back to one of the 2 "solved" positions rather than this mess. :o

Thanks in advance :)

searching on this forum should give you some of my posts about unscrambling a (master) magic

Basically you
1) get it flat
2) get it 2*6
3) get it solved

For 1 you should focus on finding single panels, bring them together and make all pairs
For 2, you should analyse my flipping only video on youtube
For 3, you should find my post about the 4*8 states there can be on a magic. for master magic that would become 6*8 states

Also, don't forget that it is actually a puzzle this way, not just a dexterity tool

I came across your posts and they helped me get it flat and 2*6 again, thanks.

However I somehow still get stuck at getting the rings right. I tried every transformation on this page: Link in different sequences for quite some time but no luck yet.

This is a picture of the closest state I can get: Picture.

Playing with this puzzle for a week now makes me feel like I just got the 3x3 cube and had no idea to solve it, its a fun feeling. So yeah I appreciate the fun of puzzling it has brought me but I've reached the point that I just want it right again so I can solve it like "normal". ;)
