Roux method

I would have started learning Roux after getting ~55s average with my own method, but the first time I visited the page, I thought it was just in French(which I don't speak so well), so I gave up trying to understand it and started learning Fridrich. I regret it, because I like(and liked back then) Roux more. It's fun just like Lofty said.

pjk, are you going to make a guide on roux EO? Thanks, I'm having some trouble with it. Some of the cases are over 10 moves.
I don't plan on it, I am still quite new to Roux. I'd recommend you watch the Roux tutorials on Youtube. Richard has a video made specifically for EO.

pjk: unless your harris
but i am also going to look into roux so i can start teaching it to new cubers do you all think that i should use coll or what roux actually uses?

well if they are new cubers you should start off with separate orienting and permuting steps...
if they are going for Roux as their main method go CMLL if you want something that is very useful regardless of method teach COLL

well they already know how to solve it using the method from the little book that comes with the rubiks cubes and the two of them figured that out in a day and were solve in about 2 mins so i think i will start them with some of the coll that is pretty close to cmll and if they like it teach them cmll

its just that COLL is 40 algs so they should need to know how to do it in two looks first otherwise sometimes they won't know how to solve it.
If you teach them the 7 OCLL and 2 PCLL algs then the 7 OCLL will end up being 7 of the 40 algs and they will have a good base to be able to start solving Roux quickly right away.

well i showed them the basics today and started showing them pcll algs and them seemed to get it for the most part didnt really work that much but i will do some more stuff later

roux takes a little getting use to, I've been at it for a week and am just now getting faster with it.

I never really started solving for time until three weeks ago, when I started looking at badmephisto's vids and came accross Roux.
After practicing for a bit it becomes very easy to recognize, before with LBL i was getting around a 1:30 avg (yeah, i'm UBER slow) and with Roux after about two weeks i am getting around a 1:45-1:50 avg, so obviously takes asome getting use to but I think it's a great method... especially since I won't have to go and memorize 57 cases of OLL (or is that PLL?) and however many PLL...

If your going to learn it it might take time mainly because your not going to find as much help as if you were to look for fridrich or petrus method help.
So... yea

this guy told me I should be color neutral if I want to be good with Roux for FMC.

anyway I think it has the potential to get like sub 10 solves
this guy got an 11

and the creator has a 10 ( lol hes the master of his method )

which do you all think would be faster to make one block on one side at a time or make the two as you see them?

Make one at a time. I was thinking about building them simultaneously, but if you do that, it restricts what you can do. If you build 1 block, you have pretty much all the freedom you want, then the second one you are restricted, but you are used to the restrictions (after practice) so it goes very quick.

Also, I definitely think sub-10 average is possible with Roux. Give it a couple years.
